I know it’s low on the priority list, but it should at least be on the list somewhere: can the Abjuration Wizard’s Arcane Ward be made something adjustable, like sorcery points or ki points? As it is, we know how many hit points the ward can absorb by looking at DnD beyond, but we cannot track the ward’s current health.
Hmm good idea. It should be like artilerist turrets.
But until then, there are a number of work arounds. You can make a homebrew "monster" so you can track HP in extras. You can copy the subclass and add HP to the feature. You can use temp HP if you aren't already. You can add custom items to represent hp. Etc.
I agree there are workarounds, although you definitely shouldn’t use temp HP, as it’s tracked separately. This is a “would be nice” request.
I totally agree, it would be nice and should be added (they did for turret HP). And using temp HP is only if you do not otherwise have temp HP, since you are right about it being separate.
DxJxC has given some good examples. One particularly user-friendly option is to make a homebrew version of the Abjuration school subclass, and tweak the Arcane Ward feature so it has hit points that you can reduce and increase on the character sheet.

Has anyone created that home brew work around. I’d love this for my abjuration wizard

My workaround is creating a sidekick and overriding the max HP. I just keep it attached and toggle the notes to say "active" or "Inactive"
