Hey all, I ran into a situation yesterday during the server maintenance that I wanted to post here, in case it helps anyone else in the same situation.
I made my initial D&D Beyond account when they were linked only to Twitch, and made a Twitch account for the service through my Facebook. In April of last year, Twitch removed the "Login via Facebook" feature, and I had not updated that account because I only used it for this platform.
When the server maintenance logged me out, I was required to login via Twitch again, but Twitch told me that I needed to update my password. When I went to do so, Twitch told me that I had no email registered to the account. There was no further recourse, and I was caught in a loop of what was essentially "Give us your email so you can change your password" and "you have no email, sign in to add an email to your account. Very Sisyphian and very unpleasant.
Naturally, I reached out to both the D&D Beyond Team, and submitted a ticket to Twitch. Much to Twitch's credit, they also eventually got back to me, but the real hero of this story is Sorce. Using identifying information about the account, he was able to determine that I was the owner of the account. He was able to give me access by having me open a dummy Twitch Account, and linking it to a dummy DDB account. From there, he transferred the link for the Twitch account to my original account, granting me access!
Talk about a relief. Please let the above be a lesson on how to fix this problem if encountered, but more importantly, have multiple ways of logging in! I hope this doesn't happen to any other users, but if it does, know that there are ways to fix it without losing all your characters and homebrew.
Thank you again, Sorce, and the whole D&D Beyond Team!
