When I create a copy of one of my characters, it gives the copy two of each custom item that the original had (specifically custom items, nothing else). If I create a copy of THAT copy (copy of copy of original character), it then has THREE of each custom item. Note: it doesn't duplicate each custom item from the copy, because that would give it FOUR of each custom item.
I can delete these duplicate items when it's just a copy of the original character, but for copies of copies of original characters, I get this internal server error code when trying to delete the duplicate items: 1279e9f830184458ad5d0c67cef2c8c7.
I'm only using these copies for planning my level-ups ahead of time and I don't care much about their inventories, so it's not an important issue for me and I'm not looking for a solution; I just thought that this bug should be reported.
I've encountered this bug before and made a report on it. For now, if you move a glitchy custom item to a different container, then you'll be able to delete it.

I am also running into this a lot, as are many of my players. We all have a tendency to make "test" builds and try options out. It does seem like "Copies of Copies" are what are affected.
She is a copy of a copy, notice she has a custom item that was duplicated as a result of the copy function. Usually, I've noticed that *one* of these copies can be deleted (no problem), but the other one throws an error, unless you *first* move that item to a different container, *then* you can delete it successfully.

Thank you naruhoodie for making a bug report. I thought I'd add a comment here to show this is still a problem today. Here is an example character affected:
