I'm DM'ing a game and my players keep telling me their max HP is changing when they take long rests. Some of them rolled for HP at level up, some of them did not and I notice the ones who rolled are telling me their max HP values need to be manually set each long rest. Is there is a setting I can change on the edit player page to stop that from happening when they take a long rest?
I have not been able to reproduce the issue myself :(
I was able to replicate what’s happening to them, and unfortunately I don’t know how to fix it, It’s seems to be a glitch. Reach out to the support team maybe they’ll know what to do
In the character builder -> Home -> Hit Point Type. If set to fixed, the PC hit points will increase by the average of their HD at level up, no rolling or math required. If set to manual, at level up, you must navigate to Charater Builder -> Class -> Manage HP (Blue Button - Top Right Corner) which opens a dialog box to allow for the addition of HP rolled.
On a long rest, the sheet will revert Max HP to the setting in the Char Builder. If you have the character set to Fixed, and are setting a "override max HP" on the char sheet, on a long rest, the sheet will revert back to the "Max HP" set by the "Fixed" setting.

"Override max HP" is meant for things like the Aid spell, or creature effects life drain that change a character's max HP. Most (if not all) of these effects either end after a long rest or have a duration limited enough that they would be over after a long rest, which I think is why a long rest resets them. So if your players have been using the override max HP to put in their new HP after level up, instead of following the steps Kaavel outlined, that would do it, yeah.

Ahhh - thank you! I thought it might have been a normal thing and I just made a mistake with the settings.
Really appreciate you taking the time to recreate!
There is a setting that will cause this.

Birgit | Shifter | Sorcerer | Dragonlords
Shayone | Hobgoblin | Sorcerer | Netherdeep
Kaavel and pocketmouse - thank you both!
That detailed explanation should save me and my players from getting frustrated :)
