Will we still create be able to create 5th edition characters once One D&D (5.2 or 5.5 or whatever new system is called) arrives in DnD Beyond? Or will we need to find alternatives to DnD Beyond?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Long time player. Started with basic, and played AD&D, 2nd edition, 3rd edition, and the D&D killer 4th.
After that I took some time off, like many others. I'm hoping 5th can make D&D great again.
from what we've learned so far, you should be able too. We dont know how they plan to preserve the original 2014 materials, although one assumes their "Legacy" tag system is the best bet. If so, then it's just like being able to use older races that had been updated with the new MMM release.
This still means you will need to own the original materials, even after they are de-listed from the market, if and when that happens after the release of the 2024 books.
This is all an educated guess, and reserve the right to be devastatingly wrong.
