The character I'm playing now, and have been since March, is one, and I could have swore there was a way to do that. I don't have Athletics since I chose the other option, Investigation.
But I'm not seeing it as an option now.

You already have Investigation from a race or class choice, so the background is not letting you pick a Skill Proficiency you already have.
The_Glimpse, you're a life-saver, thank you!!! I was just having this same problem with my character and I can't believe it was such an easy fix, thank you! I was about to give up using dndbeyond for this character until now!

for the city watch/ investigator background is there a process to select the investigator variant within the character builder tool?
