So I'm sticking to 5e (because I've spent much more time with it and it's easier to understand), but character creation on this platform now is complicated, showing both the 5e and one dnd content at the same time, it makes it even more difficult to understand for any of the first time dnd-ers that I know. I think there should be an option to chose which edition you want to see the rules for, so you can have it show just 5e or just one dnd. Yeah I feel that the character creation option now is very flawed and overly confusing.
I would have happily continued paying my master tier subscription to just access the content I have and not have to engage with the new edition at all, but now the character creator is cluttered with this 2024 junk. I just want a way to hide all the 2024 stuff. I don't want to see it.
I would prefer to use the 2014 5th edition than the 2024 edition as well. I find several changes and nerfs terrible and unnecessary. So for the foreseeable future I'll stick to 2014 edition and if dnd beyond removes such then I'll just get a hard copy then cancel my subscription.

It is an interesting question about the availability of the source books you want to keep using. I mean the hard copies. Will be there a surge in Oct/Nov of the hard copies available when people cut over the new shiny? I don't know if this time around you will be able to pick up the books 2nd hand.

Completely agree.
