This is my MeToo post on this topic. It is April 15, 2025 and the Agonizing Blast invocation is still stuck on Eldritch Blast, no matter what the 2024 PHB says. Oh well, I have been hand writing my character sheets since 1985, so I am used to this. I had assumed that the professionalism of Code Monkey Publishing with respect to E-Tools for D&D 3.0 and 3.5, might have been carried forward to DnDBeyond but I have been mistaken before.
August 3, 2025 update: this is a known flaw and Wizards knows it. When it will be fixed is anyone's guess.
We have officially had all three core ‘24 books released for a few months, and many of the ‘24 incompatibility issues exist despite them now being the default rulings.
Does anyone know of this issue Will be resolved on beyond? Or is this one of those things that beyond is just gonna leave alone?
it would be really cool to see this fixed.
More to the point, it'd be really cool if we could use all the materials we paid for, flawlessly, on the platform owned and run by the game's seller.
I mean, why tf else are we paying a yearly subscription fee and buying the materials in e-forma, instead of just the books and pen 'n' paper like back before the internet.
Because when D&D Beyond was first introduced, it was very convenient. It provided digital copies of the materials (admittedly at a price), which were easy to access on any mobile device, rather than lugging around and looking through heavy books.
It made building and running characters very easy, with auto calculating totals, and easy step by step creation. It made it easy to remember features and track everything.
It was so easy and convenient that many people did not want to go back to pen and paper.
And then Wizards of the Coast bought it, and things started gradually got worse because with no real competition out there, and no desire to sell, there's no reason to make it better.
So, the site is at the point where it is just convenient enough that many of us don't want to leave. We currently think the cost is worth the convenience. And also, many people don't own physical copies of the books.
I came looking on the forums to see if this had even been addressed... I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it hasn't, or for that matter even acknowledged by D&D Beyond, just like they never take any responsibility for virtually any bug and just blame it on Beyond20 all the time. The lack of professionalism is stunning.
1) Click on your Eldritch Blast and go to Customize. Under damage bonus, add "-X", where "X" is equal to your Charisma modifier, so it removes the damage Agonizing Blast was adding.
2) Click on the Warlock cantrip you want Agonizing Blast to work with and do the opposite of the above - go to Customize and under damage bonus, add "+X", where "X" is equal to your Charisma modifier.
In the lexicon of software development, there is a curse or swear word called a 'kludge'. A kludge is an assortment of ill-fitting, misshapen parts and components that have been hammered into a mangled alignment with each other. In other words, a 'kludge' is a very complete and total mess. Military folks have other terms that mean 'kludge' such as 'SNAFU (Situation Normal: All Fouled Up)' and 'SUSFU (Situation Unchanged: Still Fouled Up)'.
The continued existence of this thread demonstrates that we have a SUSFU. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word are worthy alternatives to DnDBeyond.

It's significantly faster to create a character using dndbeyond than excel or word. Unless you have some kind of program you'd like to share?
It is quite easy to end up with a "kludge" when you are constantly having to add specific new features to an existing software system.
Sorry but my software skills, while prodigious, are not sufficiently advanced to create an alternative to DnDBeyond. I was, and still am, amazed at what Code Monkey Publishing did with e-Tools for D&D edition 3.0 and edition 3.5: especially when they occasionally lifted the hood to let folks take a peek at the interweaving between the Java graphical user interface (GUI), the MS Access data base and the HTML/Internet Explorer setup. My software skills are based in the 1970 to 1990 time frame (Fortran, COBOL, Algol, PL/I and similar things). Java, C++, Eiffel and other object oriented software tools are still 'new fangled gadgets' to me. (I was always amused when my grandparents used the term 'new fangled' and now I am using it!) As the French would say, Such is life.'

6 months later... this STILL hasn't been fixed.
Still not fixed
April 28, 2025 and still an issue.

Please fix this, it’s been so long
9 months later, and this is still not fixed.

Really surprised it isn't fixed yet. As far as I know you can't homebrew invocations either so what're we supposed to do?
Bumping this for WOTC to fix

In fairness, it has been acknowledged as an issue by D&D Beyond, and no one has ever said this issue has anything to do with Beyond20.
That said, it is ridiculous that this wasn't implemented at launch, and even moreso that it still hasn't been fixed.

Issue is still here…
Here's how I've handled it for now:
1) Click on your Eldritch Blast and go to Customize. Under damage bonus, add "-X", where "X" is equal to your Charisma modifier, so it removes the damage Agonizing Blast was adding.
2) Click on the Warlock cantrip you want Agonizing Blast to work with and do the opposite of the above - go to Customize and under damage bonus, add "+X", where "X" is equal to your Charisma modifier.
You can also just leave the invocation selection blank, skip #1 and just do #2.

This is unacceptable. Give us what we pay for, or watch us leave.
