I have an iPad Air that cannot update to iOS 13. The new mobile app requires it and in the app store it says I can download an older version that will work but it never allows that.
Yes, in order to use the latest and greatest technologies, which allow us to provide the best user experience, we sometime have to cut off older versions of operating systems. We can't support iOS <13.
iPod touch 6 touch will not work with the 13.0 ios for your app. Please remove their usability in your app description. I was on covid leave due to the virus and discovered Critical Role, and thru them your website and app, but very disappointed i would have to update to a iPhone or iPad to use your app. I did make a purchase of a sourcebook to help support you thou, and appreciate if you take a look at this. iPod 6 touch are currently maxed out with 12.5. something., ios.
EDIT: So i purchased a ipod 7 gen touch, and yes, it runs ios 13, and it will work with D&D Beyond. If there is ANY further ios requirements beyond this, then the ipod will not work.
Unfortunately this is a step backward in terms of "more accessible". I have an iPad mini 2 that is perfectly capable of displaying the compendium content with the old app. Whatever the "latest and greatest technologies" are, they clearly aren't necessary for that basic functionality, and requiring them is creating a worse user experience.
whats so stupid about this is that it used to work on ios 10. it just keeps getting pushed further and further back until everything just become obsolete. and its not like there are a ton of new features or anything i dont see why if it worked before that it cant work now.
So…. App Store prompts to download an older version…. Then when app won’t I open without updating… the cost of dnd beyond just increased to the cost of a new iPad due to prior iOS failings.
poor form wizards.
The latest and greatest spin reads as particularly tone deaf when you are stuck in an infinite loop.

You're replying to a thread that is over 3 years old regarding an OS that is no longer supported by the manufacturer (Apple). Almost all app developers have dropped iOS 13 support, which is not receiving security updates and is 4 versions out of date (soon to be 5). This isn't "poor form" from Wizards, this is just an inevitable fact of software development.

Am I just out of luck?

Right, and I understand. My point was, the store says "to download an older version click here" which obviously does nothing.
