I'm just wondering if anyone has an Onyx Boox android eink tablet device and has tested if it can run the D&D Beyond app off the Google Play store and works with its digital purchased content eg the Player's Handbook etc.
I'm looking at buying one for reading my D&D Beyond library as I find it difficult to read off a phone/tablet/computer screen for long times, however I've recently discovered eink displays are amazing so I'm hoping Onyx Boox devices will work with the D&D Beyond app.
While I don't have access to a Boox device, I spoke to multiple members of the Boox's Facebook community who confirmed they can or already use the D&D Beyond app on their Boox devices to download and read the Basic Rules. As proof, one of their members took photos of it running on their Boox Poke 3 model (6 inch) see below. None of them mentioned any issues running the app or it's performance but one member did advise to do a quick display settings tweak for optimal viewing experience (I imagine just changing the app's Display Style to Clean so it's a white background would do the trick).
As none of them had purchased in app content I checked with a D&D Beyond support team member and they advised (having not developed the app for the Boox or Eink devices) if users can download the basic rules there shouldn't be any reason it couldn't view purchased content. They said if for some reason you couldn't purchase in-app content on the device then you should be able to purchase it on the D&D Beyond website and then download it in the app.
Hope that helps people looking to finally read D&D manuals digitally on an Eink screen. Correct my if I'm wrong but I think Oynx Boox (Boox for short) devices are probably the only Eink screen option for now. I'd recommend getting a model with the latest Android OS available for longevity of viewing the apps content for many years to come.

Me too. I was just reading about eink readers and hadn't connected the dots. It would be cool if this worked.
