ChessMess' original point behind all of this was that DDB's changelog is poorly maintained and not terribly informative. Which seems to be true. It's simply not a priority for the team.
I like that they try at least....but the last one was like 4 sentences long. I am not trying call that person out or anything but if your changelog for both Feb and March are like 7 total sentences its a bit...whelming I agree.
I am not sure what the norm is for these things though so I could be expecting too much.
And all of the development in 2021 has been only on the player tools app or digital dice (which I don't use because I use beyond20 + VTT).
I think the issue is wants of what the site will deliver. I mean if they get a feat that was published in TCoE working I don't expect a changelog on that frankly, I am fine with those being in the support and bug threads. But like looking at the change log of the most recent app update.... what else do y'all really want them to write other than "Android: Manage your spells right in the app" - what more information do you need?
Like the change logs y'all are refencing are causing much more of a difference to player/user facing things. Do we all as users NEED a changelog explaining how they moved half the business from one server to another?
So as someone with a similar background to ChessMess, I too am interested in a solution that prioritizes homebrew / modders. I've been researching roll20 but a lot of their free stuff is I am finding inadequate. Something with full support for my own discord bots, or a hosted bot I can extend (so not avrae) would be stellar. I'm looking into astraltabletop.com right now and loving what I see so far, but I want to know what I am getting into, so if anyone has used this that would be very cool.
I am going to stay out of the conversation regarding dndbeyond.com 's merits and flaws. But if anyone has used other platforms, specifically for hosting homebrew content and with a well supported API into them, please let me know.
been using Foundry VTT, have not tried astraltabletop.com
Foundry supports 5E SRD, but relies for user to create or import the remaining content themselves. There is about 800 mods that extend Foundry to do various things from importing content from dndbeyond to animating weapon effects or automatically apply and remove status debufs. You can either self host or rent a cloud service for your content. Unfortunately it can sometimes be a daunting task to get things to work exactly as you wish with Foundry because of the massive amounts of mods and labor you need to put into setting everything up.

Bonus points if I can use the 5E SRD and publish content (of course keeping sobering articles like https://theangrygm.com/save-vs-lawsuit-how-to-publish-dd-content/ and https://theangrygm.com/save-vs-lawsuit-how-to-publish-dd-content/ in mind).
