Well, any dragon scale may have same value in the market of a fantasy world (even from a dragonborn) no matter what type of dragon it is.
Many would hunt down a dragonborn PC to scalp it and sell its hide, scales and fangs, although, for it to came from the actual dragonborn that own that scales, I think its up to how much its willing to self-mutilate for coins.
Your scales are not *actually* gems any more than metallic dragonborns' scales are gold, silver, etc. Sure you could try to sell them, but it's going to be a very strange collector and they aren't going to be worth much. You'd have to seriously hurt yourself basically removing your skin to get enough scales that this rare, hard-to-find collector, would pay you any real money.

Couldnt we just use our scales as a type of way to get currency how would that work exactly?
