One problem I did have with the adventure is that some parts depend on the characters having Rivals, but there are no in game reasons to ever intentionally have a Rivalry with an NPC. Could be a plot hole there.
I mean... no one purposefully tries to make enemies. Most likely, a character would get a Rival by doing better than them in a competition, accidentally offending them, or something similar. Or maybe the Rival is just a jerk.
Not to call you out, but to me this reads:
"No one purposefully tries to make enemies, unless they do."
I mean, that makes perfect sense to me.
I think I've already made enough trouble in this thread, but I'll try to explain myself.
So you started out by saying nobody tries to make enemies, and listed the circumstances that a rivalry may form naturally from outside causes. Then you say that a jerk would seek out rivals. So my issue was that you state nobody seeks rivals, but then provide an example of somebody who would.
In hindsight, I think you meant that nobody seeks out enemies unless they're jerks, but because the statement was a little disjointed it read differently to me. It was a minor nitpick that I shouldn't have made, but in the moment I was impulsive. My bad!
Good clarification though so that's appreciated!
I get what your saying... If I were the DM I would have some one who had an opposite personality of the group.
