Also not a fan of it being mostly an adventure, but the description of Strixhaven and its colleges was a good read, never got bored of it while reading them in one sitting, so that says something.
Am I the only person who knew this book was an adventure from the get go or what? This whole thing has me so baffled. I recalled people speculating and complaining about it being an Adventure book instead of a Source book like Ravnica and Theros during its initial announcement.
Not criticism for those who don’t care for it, just an honest question.
I do also want to state that looking through more threads I now realize that the issue seems to be that it is classified as a Source book instead of an Adventure book here on DND Beyond. I wasn’t aware of that classification as I don’t use the builder so that makes more sense to me now. I still seem to recall it being treated as more of an Adventure book during its announcement though.
It was also advertised as a sourcebook rather than an adventure module. Even if you didn't look at it in the DDB marketplace, it was still likely that a person would think it was going to focus on character options and the setting's lore rather than an adventure.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
I COMPLETLEY disagree with this statement. I feel its 100% of what was promised
Ok. Can I ask you to give some detail here? It is advertised as a sourcebook and is 80% adventure. It set expectations during its launch that aren’t present here now. And factually it’s content did change post preorders being a thing and factually people were refused a refund when it no longer suited. Had I known when I preordered that this was so heavily adventure based I would NOT have preordered.
coild you please explain, in more ways than “I disagree” how this wasn’t mismanaged expectation wise?
Am I stupid or subclasses from UA are no more and they were transformed into character background?
Such a pitty...
Yeah, all the subclasses were axed.
They were removed as we knew they would but were promised something that would replace them, and I'm not finding it to be honest. A campaign around a Magic school with only a handful of low level spells is even as campaigns/settings go weak.
Just check the Bugs & Support forum. Note that there are still numerous unimplemented features and systems from various books. For Strixhaven, there are a variety of things that are not fully implemented as laid out in the first post from an admin including feats, magic items, spells, and the relationship system.
