The point of an RPG like D&D is that you start as a weak, inexperienced character who grows more powerful over time. Starting out as a warrior-king with vast armies and a huge treasury is not in the nature of the game.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
That might be really fun to play, but as 6thlyranguard points out, that doesn’t mesh well with D&D and things like leveling up and an ever increasing proficiency bonus. You can start right after the guy’s fall, but before is pretty tough
You might check out other systems. And I’m not trying to say that as: play D&D like this or get out. It’s more like, you might find another system has the kind of flexibility you seem to want that can better tell the story you’re trying to tell.

This is kinda why I recommended going with an Arcane Domain Cleric earlier, and just throwing in some reflavoring. To me, it's better to start your character off as a "Chosen, but of little power," kinda in the same vein as the Deity in question giving your character a sort of "trial run" of being their Chosen. The more you show that you've earned your right to be their Chosen, the more power you obtain, until you've essentially gained the power worthy of a Demigod (AKA, you reach level 20, give or take). Front-loading the character with epic boons and world-shattering power doesn't really work for a game where leveling up is supposed to be at least slightly important. However, slowly proving your right to be a Chosen most certainly works.
I believe there was a template (in 3.5e?) of sorts for the chosen of Mystra that set a base mode but then chosen got additional powers as Mystra decided. Most of those base modes are available as either feats or epic boons that could be granted. Others could be covered with permanent spells/abilities applied. Silver fire (and the related Spellfire) would have to be a homebrew creation something like Plaguescarred showed. There isn’t a template in 5e as WOtC has worked fairly hard to eliminate the chosen this edition.
I have tried to make a level one starting character, which might represent how a player character who eventually becomes a Chosen of Mystra might start.
I took V.Human with Elemental Adept (Fire) feat to represent his Silver Fire ability, although it is far less potent than what a true Chosen would have. Imagine it as something Mystra gives to all her acolytes, with only a fully-fledged Chosen getting the actual Silver Fire ability.
I know he has a low DEX, but he relies more on armour anyway, and hopefully, Mystra will gift him a magic item to improve his DEX at level 5.
Backstory:
He is an Arcana Domain Cleric who started as a humble Acolyte in a temple dedicated to Mystra after being taken in by a temple sister when his parents could no longer care for him. He was very young at the time, and so he was raised in the temple to worship Mystra. Very few boys lived in the temple, but some of the laypeople who worked there had sons that would come to play in the temple gardens and with whom Edlyn made friends and came to care about. At the age of twenty, he got caught in events beyond his control while on a pilgrimage to a holy shrine - a cave believed by the sisters to be the place where magic was born.
That is all the backstory he has. Sorry, I know it's not much.
Personality Traits:
I’ve spent so long in the temple that I have little practical experience dealing with people in the outside world.
Ideals:
I seek to prove myself worthy of the favour of Mystra by matching my actions against her teachings.
Bonds:
I owe my life to the sister who took me in when my parents could no longer care for me.
Flaws:
Once I pick a goal, I become obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in my life.
He has to work towards becoming chosen.
So this way, he can level up and work towards becoming one of Mystras Chosen, allowing the character to continue being fun beyond level 20.
How does that character look?
Does he look like a reasonable interpretation of a playable starting character who will eventually become one of Mystras Chosen?

I made this guy.
Edlyn (Eddie) Sayer - https://ddb.ac/characters/91345607/unUYLY (yes, he has a girl's name, but he goes by Eddie).
