Wanting to make A bigger then life charismatic Tiefling strongman. i've pretty much given up on not using a weapon, as the best way is monk and that's not just MAD, it's deranged. so just wondering what class/ feat choices could make a good strongman?
There's a fun build with Rune Knight + Lore Bard. By level 8 you have expertise + advantage on athletics, large size default and can get huge with enlarge/reduce if needed, cutting words to subtract from their grapple checks if needed. You can grapple/shove to pin just about anything to the floor (even the Tarrasque), then action surge to pummel it a couple times with decent unarmed damage with Unarmed Fighting style. It maybe plays more like a WWE wrestler than a Circus Strongman, but there's plenty of overlap there
add giant foundling background to be bigger than any of your race. (and nice bonus damage from strike of the giant feats)

I had completely forgotten about unarmed fighting style, this is a super cool idea. and i don't really know how a strongman would fight if not a WWE wrestler. i also like the idea of flavoring your runes as tattoos.

What book is the giant background and strike of the giants feat? I've seen it brought up twice but couldn't find the source of it
It’s from Bigby’s Glory of the Giants.
It would be worth asking your DM about the magic item Eldritch Claw Tattoo if you go this route. It lets your unarmed strike be considered magical. Very worth it as you start running into monsters resisting nonmagical damage.

I would think either a barbarian or fighter as your best option at this point

Dont forget Wraps of Unarmed Prowess
