The art with the 80’s cartoon characters is missing the thief. So either I missed her or she is using her cloak of invisibility, lol
I forgot that the Cavalier is missing too in the art. Maybe they met their untimely demise at the hands of Venger, lol.
The idea Eric and Sheila had died was the first thing that occured to me, along with wondering whether to be sad they never made it home or happy for them they instead decided to remain in a world where they made a difference

Maybe the scene we see is a crypt where Eric, Sheila, and Uni are at rest and the group is protecting it from Venger’s minions coming to desecrate it. Or they already stepped inside, Shiela scouting ahead with Eric following at a distance while the others fend off the goblins and owlbear that were chasing them.
I don't like the cover. It feels very, very bland. Its basically three humans and a elf and a dwarf. The kobolds and dragons are soo far of the edges that you could easily miss them. This is more vanilla than vanilla ice cream. On the other hand, you get this amazing art ... for the back?!? What were they thinking!, This would have been awesome as the cover!
Edit: Quick and dirty mockup of the backart as cover instead.

cool that the art evokes different ideas
There is a unicorn sculpture on the wall the wizard is touching.
Whatever led to Eric and Shiela not being there was a mistake. Don’t split the party is like the first rule of D&D.

Second rule of D&D is don’t split the party!
if you go with the crypt/final resting place of Eric and Shiela maybe Uni also dies and the sculpture of the unicorn is so Uni can watch over them and the wizard (forget his name) is touching it in a solemn moment in remembrance before the fighting starts.

I like the cover art. This one is good too but they aren’t really doing anything it taking a ride looking around. At least the cover there’s some action. And the kobold and red dragon aren’t the focus, the characters are so I don’t mind them at the edges.
