Youtube interview was vague and never answered the question...is the 2024 players handbook DnDOne? Is this the rework where we're getting half-caster warlock and once per round smiting paladin? Or is this just updated 5e? Cuz One DND is offal and If this is just disguised One DND, I refuse to buy it.
OneD&D was (supposedly) never meant as anything but a codename/working name for the update.
So to answer your question: it's OneD&D...sort of? It's the update of the 2014 rules.
Think of it like a car. The chassis remains in great shape and is being kept - but they're updating or switching out the seats, the stereo, and the control panel for something they claim works better.
Whether that analogy is actually accurate remains to be seen, but it's essentially what they've been telling us for the last couple of years.

You're several playtests behind my guy, half-caster Warlock was reverted ages ago. 1/round smite paladin still seems to be here (we'll find out for sure Thursday) but all the smite spells were buffed and Paladins have Weapon Mastery too, so they'll be fine.
Plus there's the simple fact that one-round smites don't affect their daily damage output, just the per round burst potential. And that curve needed a bit of flattening.

There's no supposedly about it. From the initial FAQ released on the day of the announcement, "One D&D" was an umbrella code/project name for three things
No they didn’t. Like the burst is the point. They do a lot of potential burst damage to offset the consistency that fighters/barbarians and rogues get. Martials and martial feats got ruined in all of the play test materials I’ve seen while bard wizard and ranger got beyond buffed. Monk got nerfed(for some reason?) and class abilities can be counter spelled. This is only some things that are bad there’s a whole shit list more of bad about it. Masteries are good, but **** me you didn’t have to gut every class to make one good feature.
But yeah like I said, not gonna buy it then. I’ll just take the good things from it (masteries and character creation stuff) and throw out the rest. Thanks gents.
All they did was buff the crappy stuff and nerf the good stuff to balance it. They didn't balance anything I wanted balanced though. They made the greatsword broken if you use great weapon fighting style. Why would ever use the Great Axe? Also the graze ability is stupid. Not broken but stupid. You mean you hit every time? With your big greatsword and +3 strength you hit a +5 dex everytime?

You're not hitting them dead-on every time - sometimes you're grazing them, hence the name.
