I wonder if it's different for species instead of background? Because I don't get an option to select multiple feats on the list. It gives me the option on a drop down for "Choose an Origin feat" but that's it. If I select any of the feats on the drop down it only allows one feat, and it is the 2014 version of it; so options like crafter and musician aren't even there.
Id always wondered how detailed one should make their backgrounds; "born of a litter of 3, i was the one they kept" +3 to CON for being able to take constant hits from your two brothers.
A runaway princess who becomes a rogue, 'not a thief,' but a fencer and articulate aristocratic wanderer. +1 to dex +2 to Cha with advantage on persuasion and acrobatics, basically mixing zorro and grasshopper....but always needing to be in disguise to avoid being discovered by the kings men and her arranged marriage suiter, both who want her head for the insult.
A halfling monk, named PI Woman, she is 3'.14" tall, a master of Wing Chun. +1 to diplomacy, +2 to acrobatics with advantage, +1 to dex.
A crash-landed star fleet officer, an engineer from the TOS era, playing off artificer, starting with a hand phaser, communicator, tricorder and engineers tools. Your equipment youd have to keep modifying and upgrading as you leveled for better effects (increased cantrip abilities) you'd have to keep upgrading. The hand phaser can light a candle, start a fire, stun or do damage. The tricorder can be used to search the area for things, even traps or magic. The communicator...obviously the whisper spell.
An tony stark themed artificer teamed up with a secondary character youd have to play with him, a warforged artificer named jarvis, who can be worn like a suit of armor. Allowing for advantages in how they work together and how quickly they can attack and defend, use utility spells like mend, search or whisper while the other is using the weapons on jarvis's chassis.
Figured out that making an entire new species changes the Versatile trait from Human, and gives all feats despite saying origin feat. However, creating a variant keeps the Versatile option to the correct Origin Feats options. Thanks for everyone's help.

This is one of those things they're yet to update for 2024 Homebrew, because there's no way to declare that a feat is an Origin Feat. The Versatile list appears hard coded and not something we can access.

Here is how i fixed 2024 background ability score issue:
I created this homebrew feat: Background Ability Bonus +2/+1
If you add this as a second granted feat for your custom background, it should let you pick the bonuses you want.
I will also create one for +1/+1/+1: Background Ability Bonus +1/+1/+1
Here is an image of how to set up the choice of +2/+1 or +1/+1/+1: https://freeimage.host/i/37JP23u
Thank you, sir ✌️
