Post all your fun character ideas here! I've got a fun character idea. A character who thinks that he will accomplish his goals and destroy everyone and everything in his way, but he is a neutral good character and he likes to protect people.
I once played a Warforged with no memory and no identity. Like an AI algorithm, she learns from the party's actions and behavior and tries to imitate them.
The OP’s example just seems like a confused character!
I guess, for me, the interesting characters are made when stereotyped combinations are confounded in some way. Like picking a Species or Background that doesn’t appear to gel with the Class but actually still comes up with interesting synchronicity.
For example, playing an Aasimar Warlock take a Fiendish Patreon or a Teifling Warlock take a Celestial Patreon. That way you set up an immediate internal conflict for the character to deal with.
The decoupling of Ability scores from Species now means Orc, Dwarf and Halfling Wizards are much more appealing options. I actually think that a Dwarf Wizard specialising in Geomancy is quite appealing!
Monks and Barbarians don’t really seem well catered for in optimised terms with the traditional Background choices on offer, but a Barbarian Entertainer and the Sailor Monk now seem pretty decent options, and again you could do the whole hog with Elven Barbarian Entertainers and Goliath Sailor Monks now.
