Still haven't heard of a new code I can use. I feel $30 is a little steep for each book. A 20-25% sale would move me from not sure to sold on buying the Player's Handbook.
Was it like a specific code with numbers and such or a general code that maybe can only be used once per account but we might be able to use it as well? Would love to try it out on my account :)
Dangit. I have been waiting for a code for that legendary bundle for awhile now. Wish I would've known about the LB and had the funds for it back when the codes were available. :( Oh well, maybe someday.
totally waiting for a code to buy the LB. let's work to get one to help out the community!
You do know that sounds a lot like "Hey, you know those piles of books that is cheaper here than almost anywhere else? And you know that bundle that makes it cheaper and also gives you a discount to any future purchases? So, I don't think it depreciates your work enough. Can you make it cheaper?"
It's perfectly fine to buy things on sale but pushing for it feels very self-centered.
There's nothing wrong with asking for more - even Oliver Twist knew that. Twitch/Curse/DDB doesn't make the LB content - WOTC does, so it's not depreciating their work. DDB sells more bundles during sales, so hopefully they make up the discounts in units sold. If they don't then someone needs to take basic accounting and economics and try again. Plus having the LB is likely to drive subscriptions - and that's where DDB's work really sits.
Maybe I'm missing your point, but a quick search on Amazon last week resulted in finding the hard copy books about 30% less than what D&D Beyond charges right now.
Physical copies don't add anything to DDB unfortunately, and that you can find the physical copies cheaper is somewhat the issue.
I've already dropped a couple hundred on physical books at this point, so rebuying the books in DDB at anything close to full price is a no-go for me - not to mention that there's no incentive for me to subscribe with the limited content the free account gets you. A heavily discounted Legendary Bundle helps me justify the additional cost to myself and I'd be likely to get the Master subscription on top of it.
Yeah, noted. I know the physical books doesn't give you any functionality online; just a different "way" to play the game. To me, the convenience of the online aspect is somewhat balanced by the fact that DDB could shut down and you just wouldn't have the books anymore.
Always a concern for cloud content, but less so given that it's Twitch behind DDB.
I actually played tonight using DDB for the first time and it was amazing not to have to drag books to the game store. I'm planning to use DDB when I run a campaign in a few months I know I could get PDFs or just keep using the hard copies, but the searchable and combined content capabilities are incredibly useful.
I think the only thing you get with DnD beyond is the books in digital format......... where is the advantage? sharing has to done with a Monthly or yearly subscription the codes will return for whatever marketing they need.
So DIGITAL character sheets, digital books, do hot links exist in the txt of the Digital books? and SHARING capable through subscription.
Is this all?
Love to see a slick combat tracker like Fantasy Grounds, drag drop monsters automate HP, ATT, SPELL tracking. as Fantasy grounds will not upgrade anytime soon as they do not believe they need too. ROLL20 to them is not growing its base so FG will not upgrade its features. DnD Beyond should take over and make a digital combat/monster/initiative tracker.
yes hotlinks are in the digital books. and yeah, youve about listed all that DDB gives you. For me it's priceless. I run 3 campaigns with a total of 13 brand new players, all of whom are my friends, none of which would have jumped on board had they not been able to build their characters online with access to all of the subclasses that make the game as flavorful as it is, for free, with me fronting the entry cost. DDB has given me the ability to play this game with my friends and they still comment how nice it has treated us.
And you are right, Roll20 has shot themselves in the foot and dont deserve to be a player at my table any longer. The market is there for DDB to build the go-to virtual tabletop and my eggs are already stacked in that basket with the books Ive got here, I would love to see that happen. Until then even without the tabletop it has been beyond worth it to me.
Thank you, i found other circuitous on what was 'included' with these purchases, it is the reason for my consideration of DnDB my games and online folk plus at home game. Paper books are easier to read (debatable so) Virtual/Digital ones easier to reference with 'fast devices' (new tablets/ sizable phones/GuyPads). the hot links are sexy.....
.
Hot links... can you screen capture a extensive hot link page where it links off to multiple places into a few 'books' that might tip the scales for me, or does it stay in its own book. PM if you feel its a content issue. thank you.
Looks like no code, or at least I didn't hear one. Tried Sam4President just in case... No luck.
any codes from last nights CR?

yeah, i got a code and didn't realized it was a 1 time use only. and purchased a few books. now i need Monster manual, and need another code
eventually i'll get the whole lot, but at least, it would be nice to have MM on my phone
How/when did you get a code, Gaulendor?
I was at PAX Unplugged in Nov and they handed out some cards, when you stood in line for Tier 1 DD Adventure League games. I think it was a 25% off.
Hey Gaulendor,
Was it like a specific code with numbers and such or a general code that maybe can only be used once per account but we might be able to use it as well? Would love to try it out on my account :)
it was a one time thing, i gave it to my friend and he couldn't use it either :(
