Yesterday, I opened up two Infinite Staircase miniatures boosters. I pull a nice Dracolisk! But then I started to wonder where I saw the Dracolisk before... To my surprise, there is no reference to the Dracolisk stats and lore anywhere on Dnd Beyond. Some references exist for previous versions but still, I find funny that there is a mini that doesnt a counterpart around here. I'm wondering if there are more creatures like that and if we could have the chance to get an official stat block in the future... (I would have expected to see it in the MM2024 though).
There is a reference to Dracolisks in the FR Wiki, but it's not showing as a unique Statblock on Infinite Staircase, so either there's an error in the book, or the mini company made an error (if you didn't misread "Dracolich" as "Drakolisk", that is).

The Dracolisk was in the original Tsjocanth adventure, and was a Half-Black Dragon, Half-Basilisk. Per WizKids, they were advised too late into production that the Dracolisk had been cut from the new version of the adventure in Quests from the Infinite Staircase due to space limitations. Similarly, that the gibberling size categories they'd been given prior to the final designs had already gone into production and all that they could do was correct the base-sizes and, in the case of the swarm, put a decal stamp under the mini to give the appearance of more creatures to fill out the large sized base.
So - You've got a fun, special six-legged Black Dragon mini who doesn't actually have a published 5e Statblock! The designer was Dan Dillon, who may have the original floating around somewhere, and it is possible that prior to the addition of the Spiderdragon in Vecna: Eve of Ruin, that the dracolisk *might* have been intended to find new life there,

Ahh, I knew dracolisk sounded familiar. I have the very vaguest memory of it being in the original Lost Caverns of Tsjocanth adventure now that you mention it.
Give it the basilisk's gaze ability, but set range and save DC to match the breath weapon. Unlike the basilisk, the dracolisk is immune to its own gaze.
CR effect is not defined in the rules, but since most people will choose to avoid its gaze, it's mostly equivalent to improved invisibility, which is about +1 CR.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
It seems reasonable but I'm still a little hesitant.

Do you mean dracolich?Oops. I guess not.
Do you mean Dracolich? See also Adult Red Dracolich and Adult Blue Dracolich.

This one's kinda complicated and has a history!
The Dracolisk was in the original Tsjocanth adventure, and was a Half-Black Dragon, Half-Basilisk.

Offhand, the writeup in 5e would amount to
Thanks for the history lesson! :)
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
Dan Dillion actually talked about the lack of a Dracolisk on another forum. That it sadly had to be cut.
It seems reasonable but I'm still a little hesitant.

I have no opinion on whether it's balanced, but it accurately describes how one would be built under the 5e monster building paradigm.
