New Artificer subclass is very welcome (I noticed Keith Baker's latest DM's Guild release also had a couple of new ones) and the Dragonmark feats look really interesting especially if you're playing a spell caster
It's okay I guess. It's subclass has good features but the idea isn't very "artificer like" to me. I mean artificers are all about machines and invention but this subclass is just maps.
Depends on how you look at an artificer. I agree that a lot of their flavour is about machines and invention but that doesn’t include the existing alchemist. To me they’re more about the meeting of magic and science so someone who is an expert in map making fits with that
I was pleased to see some positive changes to the first level Artificer over the previous UA, even if I still prefer Tasha's version.
Positives:
If you're going to completely change Magical Tinkering, giving it a new name is helpful
Mending cantrip free
The mundane items, while still I think not very interesting, at least last until a long rest
If this is how it has to be (the previous version allowed for so many creative uses that I will miss!), two small tweaks would be extremely helpful:
Allow me to manifest it already in place or to interact with its placement as part of my action
Allow me to dispel the item at will, not just at the end of a long rest. Ideally only at will or by making too many items.
The UA RAW doesn't even allow you to dispel it by making too many items.
But think of how much more interesting your temporary rope is if you can use it as rope and then poof it at will, at some advantageous time. Now, that's actually different from the rope I have in my Bag of Holding.
It's working the exact same way the dragonmarked variant/subraces did in 5e2014, the spells of the mark are added to you spell *list* not your daily prepared spells. So in all actuality you're getting one or two spells of 1st and second level and maybe a cantrip depending on the dragonmark over the coarse of a few levels.
