Hey I'm fairly new and have just been wondering a sixth level druid sorcerer combo split evenly would have eight first level spells correct. Is that useful, cause I picture it as kind of the opposite of a warlock, lots of weaker spells ready to be spammed seems fun and at least somewhat viable.
Whole point of this is I wanna whether a wildfire red dragon is viable so please answer.
I have since realized this not how multiclass spell slots work still a cool idea for a class though.
Does this rule apply to multiclass full caster and classes that can only be casters with a specific archetype? e.g Arcane Trickster Rogue / Cleric
Yes. The basic rules don't include Arcane Trickster or Eldritch Knight (or Artificer) because they are not in the basic rules. The PHB does include them. Specifically:
Spell Slots. You determine your available spell slots by adding together all your levels in the bard, cleric, druid, sorcerer, and wizard classes, half your levels (rounded down) in the paladin and ranger classes, and a third of your fighter or rogue levels (rounded down) if you have the Eldritch Knight or the Arcane Trickster feature. Use this total to determine your spell slots by consulting the Multiclass Spellcaster table.
Basically - if your character has the Spellcasting feature from multiple sources - it uses the multiclassing spellcasting rules.

Yes, The rules apply to all spellcasters as follows, regardless of whether you get your spellcasting from class or subclass:
"Pact Magic" isn't spellcasting, so the multiclass rules on spell slots simply don't apply to it, no matter where you got your Pact Magic.
All full casters stack their full casting levels to determine their caster level for number of slots and of what level.
All 1/3 casters (arcane tricksters and eldritch knights are the only current ones) switch from 1/3 caster level rounded up to rounded down and otherwise stack.
1/2 casters vary.
Rangers and paladins switch from 1/2 caster level rounded up to rounded down and otherwise stack.
Artificers are 1/2 caster level rounded up regardless of whether they multiclass or not, and otherwise stack.

Pact magic and spellcasting actually has very weirdly worded RAW. RAI you are supposed to be able to use slots from either feature to cast spells from the other with only 1 of each, but as written that rule only applies if you have 2 instances of spellcasting.
Artificers are weird half casters. They are the only half casters that have spells at level 1, that have cantrips, and that don't have a fighting style or extra attack in base class.

No. Multiclassed characters follow the multiclassing rules:

Dude I already know this. Edited my post and everything.
You edited your post after I had posted (about 18 minutes after). And I only see new posts, not when a post gets edited.
