Greetings and salutaions, again. So my party is having a massive issue only having access to the "basic rules" i.d. for the items and classes. We own the books but want to use the site for convenience. IS there a way to acknowledge on the site that I already posses the books and can use them here? Or must I truly purchase them?... Again...
Unfortunately this question comes up quite a bit here. Essentially you have to buy the books again on the site. The reason for this is DDB is a 3rd party website and is not owned or run by WOTC and only has permission to sell the content here that they've translated into digital format and made available to you here. There is no way for you to take the books you own and unlock them here.
The only thing you can do is homebrew the specific things you have in the books using the website, but you'd have to do that for each class, race, item that is not included in the SRD. Alternatively you can unlock specific things by buying each item piece mail for your character as you go along.
Because there is no transfer without entering things manually. Up in the top menu under Creations there are several options for Homebrew. Anything you want to add in yourself can be done through those options (if its available). You really have 2 choices, you can either buy the books again (often using one of the discount codes when they're available) or you can enter it in manually yourself.
As a player or a DM if you want to purchase content then share it with your other players you can then purchase a Master Tier subscription and create a campaign to share it with others. This is really the only way to do so through this website.
The only free course of action is to use the homebrew tools to manually add in the player options you want to use as private homebrew (not published). This also doesn't require a sub to share.

I would also suggest reading the sticky at the top. It will give you more information on how things work around here for both players and DM's.
