As far as balance goes, druids have their ups and downs, moon circle included.
Yes, suddenly going from a sparrow to a dinosaur can likely wreck a ship. However, at that point you've run out of wild shapes and are either going to likely drown or get skewered by the ship's surviving crew members.
Turning into an elemental is definitely strong, but then you'll have to wait to do any more transforming.
Unlimited wild shapes at 20th level is undoubtedly powerful, but not many characters get to that point. They usually die before then or a game simply never gets there.
If your DM is getting frustrated, it is possible for one to drop a caster who can cast disintegrate or even power word kill into an encounter (such as a lich). Many powerful wild shapes don't have very good dex saves and you may flat-out die.
The spells druids get (and the bonuses for land circles) are thematic and of notable power. Do they break the game? Not really, any full caster can compete there, and they often get access to better armors through their class or multiclassing; druids can't really benefit from it that way.
Are they strong? Yes. Are they the strongest? No, that goes to a certain ice fairy. Jokes aside, they probably won't outshine other players at any given time. As long as everyone is having fun, I don't have any issues with druids.
