Hey, so I am absolutely in LOVE with practically everything about Explorer's Guide to Wildemount! Such a great campaign setting with plenty of story telling potentiality!
It also made it super easy to understand different locations and to help my own kind of world building!
For those who don't have it, there is a new "Supernatural Charm" called the Hollow One, when one dies in a certain location, they have a chance to come back as one. My ultimate thought, can they be brought back to life? Or once they become a Hollow One, is there no coming back? I just want to hear what others think of it, I know how I will probably take it, but I would like to hear what everyone else thinks! :D
Well, since spells like Resurrection specifically affect the dead, not the undead, probably not. And, even with Resurrection, it doesn’t cure diseases and afflictions of a magical nature. Your best shot, then, is either to cast Wish or hope for some divine intervention.
I think "returning" should be possible, but it should be a major plot point. Like Jaethal from Pathfinder:Kingmaker who learns a ritual that requires her to sacrifice her own daughter to return to life.
Or Pinocchio who gets turned into a real human boy after proving he's worthy. :-)
Technically hollow ones are not undead, they just get identified as undead. If the body is killed it can definitely be revived like a normal creature.
As for what "cures" the hollow one status, that is up to DM (just like granting it), but I would say any magic that could cure undeath (namely wish and true resurrection) should work.

I agree, those spells should work.
Has anyone tried turning this into a Background for a character instead of a "Supernatural Gift"?
