A source book is a book with information, often a campaign setting that describes a specific world. Ex: Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Ebberon Rising From the Last War, Etc.
An adventure module is a pre-made campaign with instructions for the DM on how to run it.
hey all, im totally new. As in only just bought a starter kit. Looking at material, whats the difference between a source book and adventure book.
Does a souce book like the theros book coming out have a pre-built campaign? Or only homebrew material?
And then something like rise of tiamat. Whats the difference?

Homebrew: Magic items, Subclasses
Adventure books are premade adventures. May have a few monster/item stats that are unique to the story, but otherwise all narrative.
Sourcebooks are primary sources for character options and setting and monster information. Rarely, these will have a mini/one-shot adventure.
