I stand by my review. I ordered this mini in APRIL. It cost $40, I paid for the "high quality" material as an upgrade, it showed up with tons of layer lines all over it, and it snapped and broke the minute it fell off the table. For $40? Nope. Thumbs DOWN.
I would encourage you to contact them then. I have ordered from them for years and have always had great luck with their customer service about any issues I've experienced. They've always offered to replace any minis that were damaged or I wasn't happy with.
I had backed the color kickstarter, and received one of the new color ones broken, and they would not replace it. On top of that, the colors were very muted compared to what they had presented. It isn't the end of the world, but I do understand the topic creator's frustration with them.
How bad was yours broken? And who was the CS rep, cuz I want them from now on. Mine was a wing and a sword which the CS rep "kindly suggested" some craft glue for. ( I mean it worked, but it still looks wonky)
I haven't had issues with them, but most of my group have broken their minis. Then again, I think they must be body slamming them or something.
My first mini was the brown detail plastic. Got to me quickly and looked great. A coworker's wife broke the sword off while painting it for me. Glued it back on. It held up just fine for over a year of rattling around with other minis during 40 minute road trips to the game.
After that first year, the coworker picked it up and broke the sword again. I just left it off and called it a lightsaber. A month later, dm broke the arm off when he dropped it off a "pillar" (energy drink) and that was that.
He ordered a new mini for all the players. They all broke something on theirs as soon as they picked it up. Mine is still good.
*shrug*
Edit: I ordered 4 minis in the black plastic prior to 2.0. Haven't painted or played with any of them, but they are all just fine.
I love HeroForge! I've bought a couple of custom minis from them, and they've always come out great. I've designed a bunch more, i just don't have the funds to buy them all lol. I wanna get a 3D printer so i can print out my designs myself.
I ordered 2 minis and it says it’s going to take 6 weeks to just be shipped. So that’s not including the time it will take to arrive after being shipped. Kinda ridiculous

You do realize you are ordering stuff right smack in the middle of the holidays with on ongoing pandemic, right? People are dying by the thousands in the US alone, and warehouse and delivery workers are doing back breaking work for barely a living wage. While those of us who are lucky enough to be on vacation with our families and playing D&D online, essential workers are risking the lives of their older family members every time they leave to go to work getting your product from point A to point B.
It is not ridiculous to be more thoughtful of others and show some empathy during trying times like the present.
Gdeloian, since your experience seems anomalous, perhaps you could contact Hero Forge to replace your mini? I dont know what their policy is, and dropping a resin figure on the floor is something they cant be held responsible for, but perhaps the layering (lathes) were an oversight on their part? If you talk to the right person, they might want to help you out as a goodwill gesture?
I loved those days too, but I'm much older now ... but COVID has brought my old buddies from Houston, TX together ... despite the fact that we are now spread coast to coast across the country and rely on virtual meetings and cameras. We have a DM (from Canada) who is great and still uses physical dice and miniatures (he just sets everything up with a camera and away we go). But we are also going to start a second campaign with virtual assets.
Heroforge is fun in helping to inspire character ideas ... I've already brought back one character who had an unfortunate end 30-years ago. I've bought three miniatures from them, all arrived safely and look great. They were unpainted, but I'm setting up a work space in my garage, digging out my cases of minis from 30-years ago and will begin again.
I remember the old days when I actually got to play D&D at table with physical dice and miniatures :(
I've been using this virally enforced break from physical play to slowly stockpile miniatures and develop my painting skills. By the time it's safe to play in person again, I hope to have a neat little collection.
I plan on trying to improve my painting skills as well
I ordered three Minis after Christmas.. my first time using the service. I ordered basic grey primer plastic. They were not expected to enter production till Feb. 10th. I got an email last week saying they were done and being shipped. They are due to arrive this week. Once they are in my hands I will babe able to have an actual opinion about their product.
as far as breakage.. as a guy who played a fair bit of Warhammer, breakage happens imho. Sure it is frustrating, but it is a reality of miniatures, especially plastic ones,
it depends how you look at it, if you dont spend the money for premium plastic you cant expect that its going to be great and even if you do premium plastic you cant expect it to be pefect, the customizability is what heroforge offers and theyre great at it
And thats if they can get you it. Im not going to recieve mine until a year after our canpaign will be over at this point. Over a month with no movement on my order. When i asked them they basically tell you to pound sand its more than a day past your order and refund period. Dont risk using these asshats.
I disagree completely. I have been happy with the figures I have received, both the older monochrome and the newer multicolored ones. I also use it to make high-quality images of my characters to use in Beyond. I did receive one broken mini but they replaced it with no issues.
Sigh, just an old fogey here, I can’t get into not so cheap plastic minis. Given the problems reported here I think I’ll stick to my 30-40 year old cast metal minis. Yes they are heavier but the generally don’t break ( they bend but you bend the. Back). You still have to paint them but they have stayed painted for years.

The mini's are honestly fine from what I've seen; They're not going to be as durable as a hard plastic model like what you'd get from Games workshop typically but at the same time they're not going to shatter because you looked at them funny.
Now, I'll be the first to admit, my Dragonborn paladin isn't super detailed because a buddy offered to buy me one after I designed it and I didn't want to put him too far out so it's a cheaper material (and likely more fragile). On the other hand, I've also had this model for 7 years and he's as good today as when he came out of the box.
Beyond that, I got the model pretty much exactly as I wanted it which is the whole *point* of heroforge; you don't have to make due with whatever models D&D or Rifts or Vampire the Masquerade or Battletech put out you can instead turn around and have a character that stands out Like how Bre'Tai Atrox here has a mix of 4 different armor types and is swinging around a Khopesh (arguably one of the coolest weapons of the ancient world).
Or check this one out:
This is Izel, a model I designed for a campaign that was a LE Yaun-ti Eloquence Bard and spy whose whole deal was quietly maneuvering herself to manipulate those in power into unwittingly servicing a Kabal of Purebloods that intended to rule everything from the shadows. Everything about her pose is intended to be inocucous and banal, her expression devoid of any passion but at the same time there is a subtle inference of sex with her and those green eyes immeditatley pulling and holding your attention.
Beyond that, I've designed and had models Printed to commemorate events for friends and family like this one:
This is a model of a buddy of mine named Owen that I used actual pictures of him for as reference in order to commemorate both how he had taken over a campaign after I was forced to step away from the table (his first one as far as I know) and I had learned that he was going away to university (and that I probably wasn't going to see him again) so I went and got him this so that he would always have something to remember us by.

I don't recall who the specific person was but both times I've had issues over the years they were quick to offer a replacement.

I've ordered a few mini's from them as either gifts for my friends or models of my characters and as far as I can tell they're still intact.
Now, for obvious reasons I've been gentle with the one I have for myself but it hasn't had any problems as far as I can tell.
