Technically I made this character for a friend, though I've copied it and plan on playing him myself someday if I ever get a break from being a DM:
Hobgoblin Wizard, planning on War Magic: Tim'tachar Worfspawn. Yes, some call him ... Tim.
Character was supposed to be a sort of one off for a game he's in where we're on ramping some new players into the game. Player asked if he could be a wizard. I asked "Named Tim?" He said, "please?" So to make it interesting, I found myself digging on Hobgoblin culture in Volo's and the "save face" trait. Gave him the archaeologist background, so he's basically Indiana Jones as played by Worf on TNG with a life mission to find and recover any magic that can bolster his people's "security." The rest of the party consists of two bards plus a rogue and barbarian both with musical skills ... they have an elaborate tavern show (something akin to Spinal Tap's "Stonehenge" in execution). He's taken on the role of tour group manager as his "cover". Rest of the party thinks all their off tour side quests are just investigations of various lore, not knowing the magical WMD angle.
It's an interesting dynamic.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
My favorite character race/name combination is the one my wife chose for our current campaign. A pink copper dragonborn named Touchy Tammy. She is 15 so I made it so that the reason she is pink is because her scales have not all grown in. This is my wife's first character so I kinda let her do anything she wanted that wasn't explicitly against the rules in character creation.
Hangry Hairy Heroes and Brian / TwigDropWockenSprung SparkleFigCraft (goes by TwigDrop or Twig) / Gnome (as if you had to guess the race with a name like that)

Members of the Dullahan race do not reveal their true names to outsiders. But I go by Crick Evervenge, a Conquest Paladin/Hexblade Warlock.
My Half-Elf Lore Bard is named Cadenza, which I think is pretty awesome.
My Human Cleric of Life is named Bartholomew, which in the bible is interpreted as "Spirit of Reconciliation."
My Human Gloomstalker Ranger is named Chaparral.
My NPC Human Druid is named Alnifolia, a species of plant, in a campaign I am preparing.
