I cant seem to find a way to make a new weapon from the ground up, if you select the item type to be a weapon in the creation tool, you are forced to select a base weapon type, automatically locking in the the damage die and type, and you can only add modifiers, if anyone knows of a way to build a brand new weapon from the ground up on this platform please let me know
we already have the item created outside of ddb, (its basically a lightsaber tbh) the goal is a versatile (1d8/1d10) dex based, radiant damage weapon with the light and martial properties

I think homebrew weapons are following the advice in the DMG that all non-standard weapons should always pick an existing weapon as its base type.
There's no real reason to have a damage type for a PC weapon which doesn't match one of the existing weapons.

You could try asking in the Homebrew forum, but I suspect it isn't possible.
There are other discussions about two-handed dex based weapons which you might find interesting :)
there isn't a way to make a fully custom item. They may add it later. But currently it doesn't exist.
