Character Idea: Boscog - TBD race - an Order Cleric turned Divine Soul Sorc con man. He goes by "Boss" to aid in convincing people he's in charge, has an official looking book of laws/rules for maritime activities and cites merchants/travelers for violating the rules (this book's binding looks normal but allows Boscog to insert/remove sheets as he sees fit). NOT a significant source of heals.
Your availability: Fridays/Saturdays after 4p eastern, and also most Sundays but have a conflicting board game campaign that meets when everyone is available. Weekdays are a possibility too.
Discord Tag: krusovice (formerly krusovice#4329)
Your favorite play style: I like getting creative in RP and combat - for example we once went to a cave of goblins holding prisoners and threw them a BBQ out front to trick them into coming out from behind their protections. I played a baking Aaracokra who fell to tears when a party member said they found a Wand of Flours and it turned out to be a Wand of Flowers- why would they do that to me? I like combat as well and try to improve the tactical situation with spells. I'm not a big fan of riddles & puzzles because generally the *players* solve them. The dumb Barbarian (no offense smart barbarians!) solving sudoku just doesn't make sense to me. Exploration and discovery are cool.
Your experience level: I'm pretty experienced with 5e up to about Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Up to that point I'd played with Adventurer's League quite regularly and DMed as well. But between COVID and some AL rule changes, I dropped out for a while. I have yet to see anyone play an Artificer for example (that might be an option for Boscog now that I think about it). I've played RPGs since the 90s from 2e, 3.5, Shadowrun, Paranoia, GURPS, White Wolf, Starfinder...
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: I'd love for Boscog to get involved in a sort of mafia running (or spreading around) the docks in the Isles. Their motive could be to make sure indigenous peoples were not repressed by rich newcomers (via investment in indigenous businesses and/or nefarious activities against the Empire immigrants).
What you would like to get out of this campaign: Camaraderie, fun, and laughs. Also your encouragement of staying in character in the main chat is a great addition. I think it would help me step up my RP and work on playing someone with distinct motives- and perhaps I can build up some courage to try accents!
Any other questions comments, or concerns you would like to share with me? Long Rest/Short Rest is a frustration of mine in 5e. So often the games I've played have been 1 combat, travel the rest of the day, long rest up. And the classes just are not balanced for that. I'd like to play in a game where resources can't just get burnt through and replenished immediately. Also, I really like when Skill Checks are a sliding scale. At X you get a sliver of info. At X+3 you get more. At X+6 even more! Lastly I like Roll20 and generally prefer tactical maps over theater of mind.
Happy to talk more! Also happy to float some other character ideas or whatever. Cheers!
Character Idea: I'm open to any cool custom race you have. I wanna play a battlesmith artificer that is a detective. My companion would be a bird and would help me solve the hidden meaning that society doesn't see.
Your availability: Available on Weekends. Evening PST
Discord Tag: bobasobaindisguise
Your favorite play style: role play, hack and slash, riddles
Your experience level: Pretty new been part of a few oneshots
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: I would love for thier to be a bunch of trickery and backstabbing. Also would love to see conflict between kingdoms and hidden scheming going on in nobility
What you would like to get out of this campaign: I want to just have some fun playing DnD with people that have similar interests as me and get better at role playing.
I may be a bit late to the party but I will post my details here for consideration.
Character Idea: I have three ready to go but I am flexible and willing to jump into any character need.
Half Orc Barbarian - A loaner that was orphaned at birth and raised by Goblins who taught him about greed. He now travels the world looking for wealth and victory in battle.
Mountain Dwarf Cleric - Mortally wounded, still has the scars out and in, but managed to claw back to life and now wanders the world helping all he can.
Tiefling Bard - Working in a brothel as indentured until she was able to buy her freedom. She now lends her musical talents to those in need.
Your availability: I am great on weekends. Starting Friday evening to early afternoon on Sundays. I am open to other options but do have a standard 9-5ish so that time is totally out. I am in eastern time zone, for reference.
Discord Tag: phylor13
Your favorite play style: I do not have a favorite. If I had to choose, I would go hack and slash but that is due to usually playing martials.
Your experience level: I am relatively new to structured RPG but have a desire to learn and can keep up.
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: I will outline for each of the above characters.
Barbarian - He is slow to trust as he has been shunned his entire life due to his looks and temper. Due to this mistrust, he has never loved. If he is able to find another that will look past his gruff exterior he could love. This new relationship could have him at odds with the rest of the party.
Cleric - In their adventure, the party stumbles across a cult of worshipers of the demon that nearly killed our Dwarf. The worshipers summon the demon to smite him again and this time to finish the task. This time, however, the Cleric has his faith and friends to guide him in defeating the demon.
Tiefling - While traversing the land, the party is approached by a small child that has escaped from a trafficking syndicate. The party discovers that the syndicate runs deep and has a presence in almost every town they visit. Finally they are able to locate the leader's compound and discover the he is the one who sold our Bard into servitude for a gambling debt.
What you would like to get out of this campaign: I would love to see any of my characters grow above level 5. I just do not feel like I get to know any of them until later in the game and then it is time to say goodbye. I think any of the above scenarios for these characters will allow me to see them grow into something new.
Any other questions comments, or concerns you would like to share with me? Due to work schedule, and standard adulting, I can only devote to one campaign at a time. If I am selected and I choose you, I will schedule my time to be present and ready for each session. I expect no more or less from everyone else in the group.
Character Idea: I'm thinking about reusing my tiefling but for a new character, a Harengon bard. They'd be a happy-go-lucky person, travelling and singing everywhere and anywhere they like. They would probably collect anything as mementos of their adventures. Coming to the Isle would add more mementoes into said collections and that gives them joy.
Your availability: I'm usually free around 6pm GMT everyday.
Discord Tag: nekoekko
Your favorite play style: anything really. But I do like role playing and combats!
Your experience level: I've only played 3 sessions before the campaign got cancelled. I haven't gotten the chance to play since.
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: anything but something book-related or library related would be awesome to me! (libraries turning to maze or leading to the abyss or something like that. Books containing magical creatures that are not supposed to be released-)
What you would like to get out of this campaign: Wordbuildings!! More lore!! I absolutely love them and would love to see more of them the longer the campaign goes.
Character Idea: I have been wanting to play a Half-elf rouge or a Firbolg druid
Your availability: I'm more available on Sundays but, Saturdays should be fine as well. I should be free most weekdays minus most Thursdays and Fridays
Discord Tag: damagicponch
Your favorite play style: I like rp the most probably but I would like to try dungeon crawl gameplay as well
Your experience level: I have been a player for 2 years and have been a DM for a one shot or two
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: This setting sounds like a lot of sailing would be involved so maybe some different types of open ocean combat could be cool or getting races that live under the ocean involved in the story could be cool
What you would like to get out of this campaign: I mostly want a long ongoing campaign as I have only ever been part of short lived groups and I would also really want to get deep into role play for myself as I haven't done it before and I would like to see how it goes
Hello! This is a twofer, as my friend and I are both hoping to join a group to play. Hope that's alright.
Character Idea: We are both VERY flexible and happy to fill gaps in the party. Right now, thinking something like (1) halfling battle master and (2) Half-Orc Warlock. We'd be very interested in molding our characters to fit the world
Your availability: Late nights on weekdays and Sat, any time of day on Sundays. We are PST but that shouldn't be a problem for us.
Discord Tag: ser.roland / shakennotscurrd
Your favorite play style: We both enjoy a balance of all elements, and working out puzzles. Combat is, to us, the most enjoyable of the three pillars (but we still enjoy it all).
Your experience level: Both of are novice-- have played before, dm'd on occasion, but not veterans by any means.
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: (1) I enjoy slow burns and rich stories. I would definitely enjoy some political plot twists! (2) Being able to explore some underwater locations.
What you would like to get out of this campaign: Just looking for a fun time, hopefully with a long term commitment of complimentary players.
Hey there, I'm not sure if you're still looking for players, especially since I'm posting this a week after the initial post, but I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring and see what happens :-)
Character Idea: I think it could be fun to play a tiefling druid who acts like a marine biologist, trying to discover and learn about potentially new species in this new world to him, while also figuring out which species to try and eat. There's also the idea of playing a yuan-ti who is on the run as a fugitive for a crime he didn't commit, but isn't afraid to commit a few different crimes while on the run
Your availability: Available Saturdays after 4PM EST and all day Sunday
Discord Tag: arheilbrunn#2790
Your favorite play style: I love a good mix of roleplay and combat, especially when all the players can get heavily invested in the stakes and the story of what might be happening in that moment
Your experience level: I've been playing for about 2 years now, exclusively 5e. I've mostly been a player, but I've DM'd a few times before and I love all of it
An interesting idea you would like to see in a campaign: I think some environmental effects or changes that might be happening to the world could be interesting, like rising or waning sea levels, sudden and unexpected freezes, constant massive storms, etc. There's also the idea of potentially dangerous invaders in the campaign setting, but it from this world or an other planar world.
What you would like to get out of this campaign: I'd like to find a group of fun and creative individuals who are able to meet on a consistent basis to just relax and have an amazing time having fun and creating amazing stories together
No other questions or concerns at the moment. Hopefully I'll hear back :-)
i am pretty new to the game i have been playing a bit with a small grouo and did a one shot at a local game store. I made a character i would like to try out i have worked on all the details like back story yet. www.dndbeyond.com/sheet-pdfs/dsawyerfoodguru_103474792.pdf
I grew up on zelda and jrpgs so I love story, puzzles, and combat.
I would love to see a situation in a campaign similar to the cell games in DBZ where a seemingly unbeatable enemy is going to destroy everything unless a champion or champions can win in a tournament and then defeat him in sport combat. With plenty of subplots between matches and outside the arena during some matches and well as being able to spectate some npc matches as well would be pretty cool. Also anything like the thrives guild quest line from skyrim or Vax ildans matron of ravens champion story arc type of thing. And maybe a casino skyship like ff6.
I work half days on Fridays so I am free from 10am Mtn time and then all day Saturday and Sunday barring activities with kids and the other campaign im in which is not even everywhere. Lmk i am excited to play more D&D.
Hello and well met. This does sound like a great campaign I'd love to throw my hat into this.
Character: Emira Hadenfang - Teifling Warlock, bard. or Garrick Darkfoot a deepgnome assas... I mean merchant. Maybe a druid, from a primitive lizardfolk tribe.
Time availability: Weekends Friday after 6pm Est, Saturday any time before 9pm Est, and Sunday 8am to 12. Est or 5pm to 9pm.
Discord - shadukar
Exp: 1st and 2nd edition, some 3.5 and 5e. On and off for over 35 years
Idea: make crafting more rewarding by taking less time, It can still cost half the market value of the item in materials but the time has always been way out of whack. Meaning the PH example says a plate armor takes 300 days. If you're proficient with smith tools and have access to a decent forge it shouldn't take more than a month at most in my opinion. The raw on this has always irked me.
Take away from the campaign: I've been looking for a long term campaign for a while. I've found a few that have last a couple months but I'm talking much longer. The longest campaign I've been in lasted 12 years. I'm looking for that kind of campaign.
