The new Campaign setting By Legends of Avantris. Called The Crooked Moon, It is a Folkhorror campaign set in Druskenvald, one of many afterlives. I am looking for players that are over 18 with a good quality audio setup, a stable internet connection and able to block out 3ish hours weekly per session. The campaign will take somewhere around 20-30 sessions and we will be using 2024 rules on top of the custom stuff that comes with The Crooked Moon. No homebrew or legacy stuff.
As for my DM style, I really like the improv part of dnd and I tend to put an emphasis on the roleplay and will be doing my best to be consistent with the Folkhorror setting. More details on the campaign will be given during discord interviews and at session 0 and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I am looking for 4 - 5 players in total and will likely start on Wednesday the 30th of July. Dont worry about coming up with Characters just yet. I will share the Crooked Moon content with successful applicants so you will be able to read up on the setting and make your character with more knowledge. If you are interested reply to this thread answering the following questions or send them to me in a private message:
how old are you?
what timezone are you in?
How much experience do you have with dnd and dndbeyond
What do you like/dislike in a DM?
What type of player are you?
What type of players do you like to play with?
Also anything personal you would like to add/personal experiences. Write as little or as much as you like.
hey :) I'm hoping to have everyone on cam, theres less talking over each other when we can see each others faces and it can make for more fun roleplay. But I'm open to discussion, most important is the right players that mix well together
I have been paying dnd for about 4 years and I've always used dnd beyond. I have general knowledge of the game and mechanics but its limited to what i've done in the past as I'm not a big reader and most of the campaigns have been homebrew.
I like someone who will at least hear you out a bit before saying no, someone who knows when to make someone roll for something and when it's not necessary. Finally, someone who has a sense of humour. I dislike DM's who are too rules lawyer-e (I do follow the rules of the game but sometimes they just aren't in the spirit of the game) and I dislike it when there is no clear communication about what they expect from me.
I am a 70% interaction 30% fights kinda player. I like to have a fight once every 1-2 sessions. I like get into little side quests and see what they have to offer. I try my best to stay true to my character but when it comes to backstory and backstory exploration I'm not the best. I am very partial to rogues
I like people i can laugh with, who can both lead and take the back seat when needed. I prefer ppl who aren't 100% go go go but also don't spend 3 sessions getting into the bartenders backstory. I can get along with most folk.
I'm not fond of campaigns that are too into politics/war (as in you are actively in a war). I prefer 1 group on 1 group combat not gigantic battles. Other then that I'm open to most anything. If you want people who can talk in "ye olden times" i am not the person for you
My discord is Cipi24#2956 as i presume this is where this will be taking place
EEST (But I'm very used to late night - morning sessions!)
I've been playing for a little over a year with beginners and experts alike across many campaigns and one-shots. I'm mainly used D&D Beyond so I'm very comfortable with it!
I love a DM who communicates well with their players, and who understands the purpose of a fun storytelling game -- when to enforce hard rules, when Rule of Cool takes presedence. I dislike DMs who don't take risks in the campaigns to make things fun, and who actively invite DM vs. Player mentality!
I'm very into RP, I love doing accents and playing out intense scenes with my DMs and fellow players. I try to serve as a hype man and as a support to other people's RP moments!
I like other players who are accepting of RP and understanding of when a serious moment should be played out accordingly and when lighthearted moments are needed! People who are arguing over rules tend to ruin my experience and immersion! 8. Due to my experience with experienced and beginners alike, I'm very used to constructive criticism and taking/giving advice when needed. I'm a musician-in-training and a cosplayer at times so I like to occassionally mix my hobbies with our campaigns when we've all bonded and formed relationships that go above and beyond the table!

1. He/Him 2. 22 3. CDT (GMT -5) 4. I have played D&D for a couple of years now in various campaigns, but I don't have a whole lot of experience with D&D beyond 5. I like when my character's backstories are very included in the overarching story of the campaign. 6. I like making voices for my characters and then using them in as many scenarios as possible, so I like having a decent amount of RP. I also enjoy combat, but I prefer that it not be the entire session. 7. I like to have other players who are responsive in RP character-to-character. 8. Don't know what I would put here lol.
Helooo ^^, I'm CafePancake, or just pancake (people often butcher the cafe part)
Any pronouns is fine, can default to they/them but no stress about that
24 on the 31st of July!
GMT-4 (have wednesdays off and will probably be free on thursday afternoons)
I've been in a few game, none of which have gone anywhere sadly. I've always wanted to try being in a more "serious" game, aka people actually making time to play. I've used roll20 but not dnd beyond, though if I can build websites, I can probably figure out dndbeyond. That said, I'm familiar with rules and everything else, just need actual practice i guess.
I like a dm who's invested in their stories and who are solid about rules but willing to bend them a little when it makes sense to do so. I like to make stuff for characters, its more fun when everyone is as invested into the game.
I'm not really sure, as I said, the game I've been in have rarely gone past a few sessions due to everyone being busy. I'd say I like strategic combat and narrative stuff.
I like to play with players who are creative and invested, who don't try to make the perfect builds to dish out damage or never fail anything ever. It's not a competition and it's alright to be sub optimal to have an interesting character.
I write in my free time and as much as my friends say I'm a good writer, I am not a good actor. I have a degree in literature and another in multimedia so yeah I like worldbuilding, backstories, character art and whatnot. Else I'll be on a trip around Canada for like 2 weeks in august, but there's wifi in hotels so i'll probably be good.
I LOVE a good story telling dm, I love being engaged with the roleplay, I also like a dm who's good with rules as written, but also can add a little flair using Homebrew etc
In very go with the flow, I try to stay on topic, as wel las give attention to the dm, I also can be a little mischievous and tricksy hehe
I honestly have no preference, as long as everyone's kind to each other, and to atleast invest some time into the sessions
I just love dnd, I love making a really good backstory to align with the campaign

With the good video set up, are you expecting this to be cameras on?
