I'm around 16 and verrrrry into fantasy films and novels and the world building in general, i love drawing and sketching, been a few years I'm scribbling things (also English is not my first language) it's been a while I've been trying to get into dnd but don't really know where or how to start. I don't have any problem with character buildings and stuff but rather getting into the actual game and I don't have any friends around to help or play with me, so can anyone be ever so kind to help this poor soul XDXDXD I know absolutely NOTHING about dnd pls help omg I feel so humbled
Hanna, I am currently trying to get back into the RPG experience, It may surprise you but I will be 70 on the 19th of this month, but I was there, the year DND made it's first appearance with the original Basic game, before AD&D. You are asking how to start. You will need to get a player's manual first and foremost. If you already have one, read it carefully and practice making characters. This helps in understanding how the game works. If you don't have anyone to play locally, then this, and other sites, is the right place to be. Build your characters here, read over the material you can find here and try to connect with a group of players. There are many groups here looking for all kinds off experience level players, as I am currently trying to do myself. Good luck and happy adventuring.
If you don't have someone local to teach you, I suggest replying to some of the Looking for Players postsin this forum. Most of these are online games and many are OK with beginners. Some will even be specifically directed at beginners. Look for something that matches your availability (think about time zones). In your reply, explain that you are new. You might consider sharing your age because some games are targeting adults, some are targeting young adults and teens, and some do not care. But you might want to be with people your age, so that is something to consider. The gamemaster will likely utilize resources available through discord, D&D Beyond, and / or one of several virtual table top apps. The gamemaster will let you know what apps you will need to have accounts with and will provide information about joining the game. You might have to reply to several posts before someone is able to find a spot for you in a game, but don't get discouraged - you will find a group.
Watching others play or watching videos on youtube on how to play is the way to go. The internet is vast and there is LOTS of resources. If you are extremely beyond new, you can even try something like Baldurs Gate 3 which is a PC game based on DnD.
