Hey there potential players or (if you're like me) random forum skimmers! I’m opening up a new mini-campaign and looking for 5 players who are excited to dive into something fresh, collaborative, and hopefully fun.
Edit:For clarity, this is absolutely FREE. I spend a ton of time (like...an absurd amount of time) on my campaigns, but I'm not here for a payday (nothing against those who are, either).
When: Thursdays from 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm PST (Starting w/ session 1 on 9/11/25) Weekly sessions, with a short 10-minute break midway. Day/time is non-negotiable. Please only apply if you can commit to that slot consistently (barring emergencies).
The Campaign Mini-Campaign Length: 5–10 sessions (player choices will how things go). System: We’ll be using the 2024 ruleset (I have the books, along with many others, and content sharing active). I’ve been DM’ing 2014 for years and know it fairly well, but this will be my first time officially running 2024 live. I’ve looked at the many, many, MANY pages of details for both DM and player and want to use this campaign as a hands-on way to see it in action. Style: A map-crawl with puzzle-solving, combat, and player-to-player roleplay. There will be opportunities for NPC interaction (especially in session 1), but this adventure leans more toward encounters and exploration—think Tomb of Annihilation with homebrew twists. Future Potential: If the group vibes well, I’m very open to continuing together into my upcoming long-term campaign.
World Info The game takes place in a fully homebrewed world, rich with its own pantheon, cities, and cultures. I run a salvaging system where monster parts can be harvested and either sold or used for crafting magical items, giving combat an extra layer of reward. Homebrew spells are rare and tied to in-world mentors, available only if your character seeks them out. The world is built to be immersive and interconnected, with secrets to uncover and lore that adapts to the choices you make. Again, this will become more consequential if/when we transition into the full-length campaign.
What I’m Looking For in Players: Age: Preferably players that are in their mid-to-late 20s or 30s, but I am open to anyone above the age of 18 as long as they have good table presence Experience: Doesn’t matter much. Mechanics can be learned. What matters most is being kind, engaged, and socially aware. I also have a complete doc that walks you through character creation on dndbeyond, so please don't worry about that it'll be simple to do together. Table culture: No spotlight hogs, no talking over others, no wallflowers who never contribute—we’re here to collaborate and have fun together. I do emphasize the fun part. Yes, we are telling a story (maybe even a deeply sorrowful one), but there hopefully will be a range of emotion as we tell it together. My regular players have all shared many tears, cheers, and laughs together - sometimes over a random but well-timed poop joke. I mean...to me, it's all fine in reasonable moderation. Inclusivity: LGBTQIA+ friendly. If that’s not your vibe, this isn’t the group for you.
About Me (the DM): I’ve been DM’ing for a little over 5 years, and - while the first 2 years were a little bumpy - I think I've really found my stride as a DM. I've DM'd two full-length campaigns in the past 3 years, both of which ran through to completion. I love building stories collaboratively, weaving player backstories into the world, and creating those “aha!” moments that surprise everyone at the table. My DM style is warm and organized, though above table I lean heavily into sarcasm. You’ll get docs for lore, pantheons, and character-building support, and I’ll always work with you to make sure your ideas fit meaningfully into the game.
Requirements (edit): Discord A decent microphone (nothing fancy, just clear without static) A decent computer (again, nothing fancy, just be able to run Discord, Dndbeyond, and Roll20 all simultaneously)
Sooooo, with that said, do you wanna join? Fill out this Google survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSehYwgBuekSHs_PcJacjhdB8QQ3YKCUQtju5iAZW3NjMpiuYA/viewform?usp=dialog I’ll reach out to players who seem like a good fit. I'll have a discord chat for you to work out class choice ahead of time, and roll stats/build your characters for the mini. Edit: Our Session 0 will be Thursday, Sept. 4th, at 5:30 pm PST, for those that are already invited, but - since some of the people that filled out the form asked about starting on 9/11 because 9/4 was way too soon - I'm making 9/4 a partial Session 0 w/ the whole group meeting for the first time on 9/11.
I'm changing the start date on this as some of the people filling out the Google form asked about starting on Thursday, 9/11 instead of 9/4 ,as 9/4 is so soon and they already have plans but do want to commit future Thursdays. Which is fair!
That said, I've had a handful of responses but do want to allow more before I fully commit to any players so feel free to click the link above. I think its pretty brief by the way, so please don't feel too overwhelmed by it.
Also if, for some reason, the form just weirds you out (idk trust issues or something, whatever it is haha) then please feel free to just message me on dndbeyond w/ the following info:
Name, age (or just put 21+ or something if you prefer), experience with D&D, self-identified player archetype (actor, storyteller, investigator, min-maxer, combat fanatic, quiet support, etc.), and your table nono's (stuff you are super not okay with, there will NOT be any lude interactions, but if like descriptive gore freaks you out, or feet, or whatever lol).
I am highly interested in joining your campaign. I am over 21 years old with a long love of RPG games but never have I tried the tabletop format (mostly PC RPGs.) I am a combat fanatic and I love the descriptive role playing aspect of character creation and adventuring. My No-No’s are political talk and racial or cultural slurs. Other than that I am pretty flexible.
