As Skal approaches the doorway carefully looking for any kind of trap an arrow flies out of doorway and hits the half-orc in the shoulder for 5 damage. The archers appear to be lying in wait for you to try and enter.

No sooner has Skal acknowledged the wound before Oriel hopped up and ripped the arrow out with a lightly glowing hand, healing him for 9 hp. As the healing takes place the large Dire Wolf runs up to the door only to be hit with the other archers arrow for 5, the wolf form appears to be on its last leg

an attack isnt a strength check, you just add your strength bonus and proficiency to a d20 roll. then add strength bonus to the dmg you roll
