As the party leaves the boundaries of civilization and enters the forest's landscape, Bloom looks around at the different plants of this area and keeps an eye out for animals as well (16 survival check). She takes whichever flowers are pretty as well as shrubs that might have healing properties. She doesn't seem that bothered about keeping an eye out however as she skips cheerfully through the forest, singing cheerfully.
"We're dancing in the forest, the nice and puretty forest, and we're here to say hello. Say hi to the birdies, say hi to the big trees, and say hi to everything that grows. We're dancing in the forest, we're not alone in the forest, look around and you'll see so many friends. The birds for me are chirping, the trees with me are dancing, and the ground just welcomes me with open arms", she sings, twirling, jumping, and simply enjoying herself in this lovely forest.
Upon seeing the fallen wheel of a cart and the crows around it, Bloom blinks a few times. She never tried speaking with crows before, usually the birds she spoke to were much prettier, but she always liked making new friends. Skipping towards the crows, Bloom gives a twirl and a wave.
"Hello birdies! My name is Baloom, and I am the purettiest fulower in the world! What are your names?", she asks curiously, absolutely ignoring what could be the scene of a horrific crime next to her.
I kept my distance behind everyone else during the entire walk and haven't talked to them ever since; I'm not a psychic. I don't have the 'sixth sense' unlike Xenia, but I can definitely sense a lot of tension between us five. And besides, I'm doing my best to analyse who my teammates are just in case some random disaster strikes out in the blue and we're forced to cooperate to save each other. I can't read their minds, but if I were to make an honest inference on their insides, I just assume that other than retrieving whatever is in those ruins, we all just hate each other's guts. The thought of what's inside those ruins is what's holding the fragile bond between us.
*He pulls out a tiny notebook to write down some info about the current situation of the group and his surroundings, especially the unnatural positions of the wreckages and their contents, before coming up with some ideas about each character*
The Bloom, whilst an obvious genki (げんき, energetic) girl, needs to pay more attention to this serious matter... Come on, you airhead. And already she's talking to some animals (well, I can talk to animals too but I'm limited to vulpine ones). Surely she knows that we're in enemy territory and not just a nature field? Daisy and Tenebris would know better in these circumstances. Then there's the mermaid girl, Venet. Another woman who I cannot make eye contact with just yet. Or maybe it's because I suck at dealing with them. I don't know much about her but she's soft-spoken and gentle. But I notice she tends to becomes easily distracted every now and then. I'm sure Yuri would have something in common with her and Bloom, considering that the latter is both a singer and a dancer. The elf, I still haven't gotten his name, but he says he's from Prihyeh just like me (I'm not native but I wound up there) and I can tell because of his accent. Other than that plus a fine build that's similar to Ethan's I don't know much about him at the moment either. Alex, well, judging by he relatively chatty nature and his constant urge to become a leader, He's the one I'm most comfortable with at the moment. In a way, seeing him reminds me of my leader and best friend, Rixi. Both of them are young paladins and they have a desire to lead a group in order to fulfil either their own goals or the goals of other people. I bet if the portal didn't fail they would get along straight away, nevermind the fact that Rixi is a lot shier that Alex...
And then there's me. The socially awkward, trying-to-conceal-my-real-appearance kitsune. One of the Wildland Shifter's 'Monster Trio' just because of my spells. Sigh... If only I... Wait... Something's not right I can feel it. Our enemies must be closeby and no one seems attentive to their surroundings. You guys...
"Hang on... I think... We're not alone..." I mutter in a low voice as I Instinctively sniff the air and swivel my head in all directions. Perception (in log): 18

Venet feels a mix of emotions as they make their way forward into the forest. She wants to stay a little while longer, soak in the newness of the city. She tries to make small talk with her new companions but also idly plucks at her lyre as they walk, causing a light and soft melody to trail with them as they walk. She changes it to match Blooms song as she sings, although it remains light. Her fingers pause as they come across the toppled box and wheel, with her stowing the instrument at Sunshine's (the quiet boy) words.
"Áh, delicioso..."(1) The crow who's perching on top of the wooden box mutters to herself, a piece of apple in her beak. She tilts her head up and swallows the apple whole, before turning to Bloom and speaks in Alharisian."Olá, nenihä. Segura tu aventuralxo, coreto? Ẽ vers qwićäs amigõr viaha ara posixá, parex arér caixa nä comer é algo. Ümo tu é amigõr su termina, nos comer ó resto. No sé importanta, no?"(2)
Before she turns back to consume more apples, she turns around and speaks again once more. "Xama mẽ Feriára, esta nota"(3)
The crow is right, the ground further from the fallen box has a fresh footprint. Six of them, to be exact, all of them flat like one commonly seen on humanoids. The road further (about 330 ft) leads to a bend, meaning once they turn around the corner, they might come face-to-face with their targets.
There is also noise, it is very subtle, almost blended perfectly with birdsong and crickets, but it's still there. It's the noise of people giggling and laughing and chatting with each other, the good news is there isn't a robbery in process, the bad news is there was a robbery, and whoever drove the cart must have fled the scene a while ago. At least there is less chance of collateral damage.
Alharisian transcription:
(1) "Ah, delicious..."
(2) "Hello, little girl. You must be an adventurer, correct? I think I saw your friends heading in that direction, seems like they're opening boxes to feed themselves or something. Once you and your friends are done, we'll finish off the scraps, I hope you don't mind, no?"

Relieved that everyone has agreed to investigate the bandits, Alexander follows the group down Route 700. He doesn't seem fazed by Bloom's comment about his age--clearly its something he's heard over and over again. Though, he does briefly think about how he did manage to get all the way here on his own--well, he was as alone as one could be on a ship full of strangers. But still, this particular mission isn't exactly his first rodeo so to speak. But, to make such a comment would likely sound un-knightly so he keeps the thoughts to himself. Instead, he puts on a radiant smile. Finally, he has a group to call his own, and they are off to take care of their first mission! As they approach the signs along the road, he grows a bit more serious, if not less excited. Glancing around, he does his best to try and determine what happened here. (Perception:16). Quickly, he realizes that Renar is right... though obviously he doesn't realize this as quickly as the kitsune does. Man, that guy has sharp senses. Alexander feels so lucky to have such a capable team member.
"Yeah," he says, also in a low tone so as not to alert the bandits. "So... what's our plan of action? I'm not great with stealth, but if we could surround them that would be ideal. Though, if anyone can get an idea as to how many we are dealing with that would be best." His attention turns to Bloom, who is chatting with a crow. Then he asks in a slightly louder but still low voice, "Hey Bloom! Could you see if they know how many bandits are up ahead?" There could be six, considering the amount of visible footprints, but he would like to confirm. "See if they can let you know if the enemy has any ranged weapons too. Those could pose a problem for us if we can't get close fast enough."
Shugo walks down the road with hands behind his head, and taking long slow strides just behind the two girls (and maybe Alexander) who have likely taken the lead. Occasionally he he shoots a glance over his shoulder at the quiet katana man, but then pretends to be uninterested. It's not surprising that the guy wouldn't recognize him, the young elf usually stays on the sidelines and staying on the sidelines in a noble family basically makes you nonexistent. He's not entirely sure what to make of this rag-tag group of random individuals that he has found himself with. After Bloom's outburst he can bet that everyone has had second thoughts about teaming up run through their heads, he'd be lying if he denied that those same thoughts ran through his head, but then again he'd been having those since the notion had began. All he knows is that he's here now, and so are these people who all share a common goal--get to the ruins.
When the group comes across the crumpled cart, the elf stops and examined the wreck. (Perception 14) But doesn't notice much other than the obvious. He glances at Renar when he speaks up, stating that they aren't alone, but still looks pretty unconcerned. Focusing on Bloom and the crows, he squints down at the girl as she whispers with the birds, and nods to Alex's statement. "If they don't know, I can always scout ahead if need be." He says smiling.
This is her first foray into the field so-to speak, so she's happy to hang back a little and let the more experienced ones take the lead. She's more used to city life anyway, talking to people usually works well for her. It's safe to assume the bandits aren't the friendly sort however.
"If they don't know, I can always scout ahead if need be." He says smiling.
"Scouting ahead isn't a bad idea, I can give you a boost so you're a little more stealthy. If you'd like? Then when you get back we can figure out the best way to take them down."
Bloom casually sits down on a table crate and childishly fiddles with her hair as she speaks with the crow. She turned to look at her friends, they weren't eating anything, and they didn't have any crates. Could it be that the crow was talking about other adventurers? Or even...the bandits? Engrossed in the conversation, Bloom did not notice the others' observations.
"Its so nice to meet you Feri! I love you feathers! I am an adventurer and these are my furiends. The people who have more boxes of food are not my furiends. If you and the others are still hungary I can feed you!", she says, resting the bottom of her staff on the ground and waving her hand over it, causing small berries to sprout from it, Bloom casts goodberry.
Bloom plucks the berries one by one and starts feeding the crows, making sure each one gets a treat and trying to pet them and kiss them on the beaks (Animal Handling check = 23). Her attention then turns to Alexander as her asks her a few questions. She smiles at him sweetly, he was always nice to her and the others and very sweet. She liked him and Venet the most! She would do anything for them...ANYTHING.
"Don't worry Lexi! I will ask them", she says cheerfully before turning back to the crows, "Feri...how many adventurers did you see go away with the food? And do they have any weapons that they can thurow on people from far away?".
True to their natural instinct, the crows awkwardly back away without saying anything when Bloom sticks her hand to them.
Feriára picks up the berry with her beak, swallows it, and speaks. “Eles alem, no recorda qwe eles eqwipa.” She ponders.
For those who go to scout the area:
A few metres (or feet, in this case) from where the group stands is a group of 'adventurers' the crow mentioned. They are surrounding an overturned cart with one of its wheels missing, on one side is a cluster of fallen crates and sacks, scattered in a random direction as if someone had dropped the entire thing from the sky—the other side is a neatly stacked crates and sacks, the same make and design as the previous ones.
The group consists of an elf with a spellbook on her belt, a gnome with a wooden stick, a half-orc with a longsword strapped on his back, a hooded Tiefling with a wand and a dagger, a heavily-armoured pink-haired dwarf with a large shield and a hammer, and a red-headed halfling with a spear. All of them seem to be in their middle or late teens (around 18-20), with the exception of the half-orc, who seems to be the only responsible adult in the group. They all wear yellow armbands, which must be the symbol of the People's Army.
"Next crate, please." The half-orc calls out.
The dwarf walks over to the crate, humming to herself. She picks it up and sets it on the ground, "Alright, who wants to open this?"
The hooded Tiefling raises his hand, "I will, Helene. Haven't opened one in quite a while now."
"Yeah, because you kept rolling Natural 1s, even in real life, Veno."The red-headed halfling scoffs, "But maybe lady luck is just playing with you, won't know it until you've opened it."
The elf leans on a nearby tree, giving a two-hand salute to her party. "Once you're done, I'm calling dibs on the next one. Don't you want to join in the fun, Dions?" She looks at the gnome, who continues to stare cooly into the distance just like he did for the past few minutes. "Dions? Radions, are you sleeping right now?" And again, there was no response from him.
"Alright!" The Tiefling calls out, rubbing his hands. "The moment of truth,"he jams his dagger in the lid and slowly opens it up. The rest of the group (Excluding Radions and the half-orc) quickly gathers around the crate.
There was a moment of silence until they all scream and gasp in unison.
"N-no way!"Veno says it first, covering his mouth.
"I-it can't be..."The elf gasps, her eyes widened.
"It's... it's..."Helene shakily points at the container.
"A pork ribs!"The red-headed halfling holds the object high in the sky, like a knight posing with a legendary sword. "And at last, all the ingredients for a perfect skābeņu zupa are collected. We're eating good tonight, boys and girls! Woo-hoo!"
"It's been weeks, but finally, something that isn't rye bread or potato."The elf smiles.
"Ha! I told you fate is still in my favour!" Veno cheers.
"HEY!" The cheering stops as the half-orc interrupts the celebration, "We're deep inside the enemy's territory, and you're catcalling our enemies into our position? Shut your mouth this instant!"
The group all collectively frowns. "Sorry, sir..."The halfling says, looking at the ground and rubbing her neck.
For those who stay behind and didn't go scouting:
A few minutes of silence later, you all hear a scream in the distance, possibly from the place where the cart gets overturned. It isn't a blood-curdling scream of someone dying or anything, it's more like a cry of joy, the same one you'd hear in a stadium when your favourite team of sports players wins the game. What are they celebrating about, though?

"They're still here, can't remember what they're equipped with, though."
"The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference."
Bloom nods at Feri as she relays what she knows before looking thoughtful. She understood that Alex was worried about going closer to the people ahead and getting seen. Bloom was not sure they were going to attack her, she was a pretty flower and everyone loved pretty flowers. Venet was also a pretty mermaid. But the others? They might make people uncomfortable with their sharp weapons and shining armor. The tiefling's eyes widened and she smiled with excitement.
"I have an idea Lexi, if you are afraid of being seen, I have some furiends that can help hide you. But you will have to stay culose to me okay?", she whispered, before putting a finger to her lips, and saying, "Shhhhhhh".
Soft giggles echo around the group as small pixies appear in the air, sprinkling Bloom and everyone within 30 feet of her with a shadowy dust that seemed to shroud their presence. They persist, their giggles turning silent, but the shadows that now conceal the party remaining...as Bloom casts Pass Without Trace (34 stealth roll). (Everyone within 30 feet of Bloom has +10 to stealth rolls). Bloom takes Alexander's hand and nods with a cheerful smile.
"Lets go Lexi! But be suuuper quiet!", she whispers.

I mean sure, it isn't a bad idea after all. But we've got someone in heavy-clad armour so it might not be ideal... You know what? If you're scouting the group on your left sir, I'll take the right then; We'll be positioning ourselves at different angles that could set us up for an ambush or a flank if things spiral out of control. And better yet... *As Raiden swiftly moves to Shugo's right and stays a good 10ft away from the latter's current position, he gets out his spellbook* I may as well... um... *Blank stare of regret* Crap... I don't have invisibility memorized. I was gonna use it to get even closer without avoiding combat but... I mean can try to rewrite it as fast as I can within this timeframe but is it worth wasting money and this moment to do so? Or do I risk myself...
Actually I take it back. I guess Miss Happy-Go-Lucky Sakura must have hidden all of us including me with... whatever it was. That was handy I gotta admit. Saves me the time and money after all so I guess I don't need to rewrite Invisibility on my limited spell list. Anyways... what are we looking out for again? Oh yeah I see them...

They seems to be so ex
Wait... they only gathered to this wrecked place just to look for food? But why? Aren't they supposed to be bandits? Unless if there are limited supplies out where they're staying or if someone else wrecked the poor carriage but... hold up. What are those bands on their wrists? *He flashbacks to what Elmar said about a particular army* Wait... aren't those goons from the People's Army? If so what are they doing out here pillaging for food? Are they also targeting the bandits too? No wait... *Unnoticeable fox ear twitch since they're hidden* they're the bandits aren't they? They've purposefully disguised themselves as the royal soldier to gain the upper hand during such dire times huh? *Grips on his katana sheath with his left hand and the hilt with his right but choses to remain in the shadows* Just you wait, suckers. You lash out at any. Single. One of us. And I will personally treat you as my next prey.

Shugo shrugs when Venet offers to up his stealthiness. "Sure, a little boost might be beneficial." He smiles, then blinks when Bloom ups everyone's stealthiness even more, then turns to Renar when the man speaks up, and watches him pull out his spell book only to put it away. "Sure, we can do that, but how's about we confuse them even more?" He says cheerfully, "Haha, if you give me a little time, I might even be able to swipe some of their weapons before we ambush them." As he starts walking in the bandit's direction, the elf seems to become one with the shadows, (despite there being very few at this hour) making him invisible. (Stealth: 24 + 10 from pass without trace + 1 bardic inspiration + 1 cunning intuition = 36 stealth)
Upon seeing the group, Shugo pauses, pondering what action to take. Now that he can see the target, stealing their weapons seems to be out of the question. However, he can mess with them a bit. He smiles, though no one can see it since he's invisible. Silently walking strait over to the group, he stops about 15ft away from them. Suddenly, Elmars' voice booms from the trees behind the bandits, the side opposite from the party. "AND WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING WITH THOSE RIBS?!!!" Hopefully, the People's army recognizes the popular duke's voice, and panic. In the confusion, the group can pick them off. Shugo smiles, then waves his hand again, ending the first spell and creating a new illusion. Now, the sound of at least a dozen armored feet sound from the trees.
Alexander smiles, so glad to see everyone rally together now that they are facing their first trial. "Brilliant!" He says quietly to Bloom, eyes shining as the fairies sprinkle them with dust. He smiles, squeezing her hand slightly and wondering just how much stealthier he can be...since well he was always the worst at hiding whether or not he was wearing armor. But, with this help he feels like he can walk straight through the enemy camp without being detected... not that he'll actually try that of course.
He looks to Shugo, who'd mentioned possibly scouting ahead, "Okay!" He notices Renar moving to go the opposite direction of Shugo, "Good idea! We can get them at least mostly surrounded before launching our attack."
He turns back to Bloom, waiting for a moment as the other two head off, "Uh... did you find out if they have any ranged weapons? If not no worries! I think we'll be fine with all the help your friends gave us!"
After a few moments of waiting for the other two and listening to the excited screams, he says, "Well you two ready?"And looks to Bloom and Venet. "I'll follow you Bloom, from a short distance to your left so we can be just a little spread out in case someone tries to escape."
Bloom watches the others go ahead, wondering if they will be alright on their own. People were not very good in forests, they knew the obvious dangers but not the ones that you learned from living in such places. Still, Bloom said nothing as they went in and instead gave them a head start before turning to look at Alex and answer him.
"Sorry Lexi, but Feri didn't remember what they were carrying. Maybe Shu Shu and Ren Ren can tell us", she says, but perhaps after the sound of those screams it was time to follow their friends? Well, they weren't screams exactly, it more sounded like some people just having fun. Bloom wondered if there would be music and dancing too. She turned to Alexander as he asked if she was ready and she nodded with a smile and then turned towards Venet to see if she was also ready. She'd never leave her new friends behind! Especially the two who she was starting to like the most...
At Shugo's go ahead she pulls out her lyre once again, strumming the chords and causing a ripple of magic to swirl out and wrap gently around him. She gives him a smile, "Good luck."
She keeps her lyre handy as everyone begins to break off.
After a few moments of waiting for the other two and listening to the excited screams, he says, "Well you two ready?"And looks to Bloom and Venet. "I'll follow you Bloom, from a short distance to your left so we can be just a little spread out in case someone tries to escape."
"Ready, Alex. Should I stick close to you or go a bit to the right so we're on either side of Bloom?"
"Thats okay," Alexander says to Bloom. "Thanks for asking though."
Once the two women agree that they are ready to head out, Alexander nods "I was going to suggest you go to the right of her... but only if you want to. Or you could stay on the other side of me, we'll just have to worry about sticking close." He hesitates, then says, "Whichever you are comfortable with. If you stay close to me I can protect you while you cast your spells. If not it will be harder for me to defend both of you." He gives an awkward chuckle, "Uh... not that I don't think you both are capable of defending yourselves. But... well I'm used to being the tank is all. So if letting me take more hits is easier on you, then I'm perfectly willing and able to do that." He taps his chest with a gauntleted fist, making a muffled jingling as his knuckles come in contact with the chainmail below his tabard. "So... uh, yeah just let me know what you want to do." Clearly he has his own ideas, but doesn't want to rush into taking charge since... well they already established that he's the youngest and he doesn't want to offend anyone.

Because you all pass a stealth check (The DC is only 10, so even a Nat1 wouldn't do anything), you can place yourself anywhere on the map on Owlbear Rodeo, so long as it isn't within 10 ft radius of any enemy's token. Keep in mind that this isn't a surprise round, it's round 1, but the enemies are all Surprised, so they can't do anything in this round anyway.
The rocks in the map provide a half-cover (+2 AC)
You can talk with enemies in any order, no need to follow initiative.

"D-Duke Elmars!?" The group says in unison... except Radions, who doesn't even seem to recognise an 'army' approaching him; continuing to brood in the distance.
"Y-you feather-brain, you've walked into our trap! The moment you step on this road, you'll be turned into a rotisserie chicken, b-because we've laid traps in here! Y-yeah, say goodbye to your feathers now, you o-oversized chicken!"The halfling (Lavīze) threatens, even though she is visibly shaking and looking like she might soil her armour anytime now. It's obvious that she is bluffing, you succeeded in a Perception check earlier and there wasn't a single trap in that area at all, and Elmars is an Aarakocra, ground-based traps won't do anything because he can just fly over.
Helene raises her shield and her hammer, "We barely have anything to eat last week and you're threatening to take our last chance of having a proper food? I get that you want our taxes right now, but we can't afford it, okay?" She shouts.
Veno hunkers behind her. He's shaking, but he forces himself to be brave just this once, he closes his eyes and ready his wand. "If you hurt my f-friends, y-you'll regret it!"
The elf (Glorija) just sighs and readies her wizardry tome. "These boots have seen everything..."
The half-orc (Elvīns) twirls his longsword, before holding it with his two hands. "Come on, kids, time to make Zelta and Alba proud!"
I was supposed to reveal this appearance on the earlier post, but well, here they are

(I really wish Bloom didn't go first...she's as chaotic as hell T_T)
Giggling at the sight of all the shaky people, Bloom seems to be enjoying the confrontation quite a bit. She still felt bad that they didn't have any food for so long, but neither did Shugo. He didn't go around stealing. The tiefling almost started to wonder when stealing might be okay before she realized that the bandits were drawing actual scary weapons. Suddenly they weren't just funny, they were dangerous, and they could very possibly hurt a pretty flower like her. Alexander said something about not letting them get away...perhaps she could help make sure they couldn't move around very easily?
"Thorns of pink rise and grow, let the suffering be endless and sulow", she says in a most cheerful manner as she waves her staff, sending ripples from where she stood towards the bandits, when all of a sudden pink colored spikes and thorns burst from the ground, creating difficult terrain that looked quite unsafe to walk through. (Bloom casts Spike Growth)
She then ducks behind a rock to hide, giggling mischievously.

"Mm? Where?"
Perception: 3
"Áh, delicioso..."(1) The crow who's perching on top of the wooden box mutters to herself, a piece of apple in her beak. She tilts her head up and swallows the apple whole, before turning to Bloom and speaks in Alharisian. "Olá, nenihä. Segura tu aventuralxo, coreto? Ẽ vers qwićäs amigõr viaha ara posixá, parex arér caixa nä comer é algo. Ümo tu é amigõr su termina, nos comer ó resto. No sé importanta, no?"(2)
Before she turns back to consume more apples, she turns around and speaks again once more. "Xama mẽ Feriára, esta nota"(3)
A successful DC15 Perception would reveal that:
(3) "Call me Feriára, by the way."

DM—Stories From The End of The World: Episode I
Relieved that everyone has agreed to investigate the bandits, Alexander follows the group down Route 700.
"Yeah, because you kept rolling Natural 1s, even in real life, Veno." The red-headed halfling scoffs, "But maybe lady luck is just playing with you, won't know it until you've opened it."
"The moment of truth," he jams his dagger in the lid and slowly opens it up. The rest of the group (Excluding Radions and the half-orc) quickly gathers around the crate.
There was a moment of silence until they all scream and gasp in unison.
"N-no way!" Veno says it first, covering his mouth.
"I-it can't be..." The elf gasps, her eyes widened.
"It's... it's..." Helene shakily points at the container.
"A pork ribs!" The red-headed halfling holds the object high in the sky, like a knight posing with a legendary sword. "And at last, all the ingredients for a perfect skābeņu zupa are collected. We're eating good tonight, boys and girls! Woo-hoo!"
"It's been weeks, but finally, something that isn't rye bread or potato." The elf smiles.
"Sorry, sir..." The halfling says, looking at the ground and rubbing her neck.

Wait... they only gathered to this wrecked place just to look for food?

After a few moments of waiting for the other two and listening to the excited screams, he says, "Well you two ready?" And looks to Bloom and Venet.
Even a pretty flower had her favorites...
At Shugo's go ahead she pulls out her lyre once again, strumming the chords and causing a ripple of magic to swirl out and wrap gently around him. She gives him a smile, "Good luck."
She keeps her lyre handy as everyone begins to break off.
Venet just smiles at him as he speaks. He is young, but not as inexperienced as his youthful exterior would lead one to believe.
"You can't defend everyone all the time, Xander. I'll go right but keep you in view just in case."
She taps his shoulder lightly before heading in the proper direction.

Y-yeah, say goodbye to your feathers now, you o-oversized chicken!" The halfling (Lavīze) threatens, even though she is visibly shaking and looking like she might soil her armour anytime now.
