"War. Terrible war. Widows, orphans, a motherless child. This was the uprising that rocked our land. Thirteen districts rebelled against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them. Brother turned on brother until nothing remained. And then came the peace, hard fought, sorely won. A people rose up from the ashes, and a new era was born. But freedom has a cost. And the traitors were defeated. We swore as a nation we would never know this treason again. And so, it was decreed that each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up, in tribute, one young man and woman to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage, and sacrifice. The lone victor, bathed in riches, would serve as a reminder of our generosity and our forgiveness. This is how we remember our past. This is how we safeguard our future." - Former President Snow

"Those were the wise words of former President Snow. Though his gracious rule may have ended over 200 years ago, a truer has not been spoken. "We swore as a nation we would never know this treason again." The rebel districts took advantage of President Snow's leniency, and rose up against him. And because of your rebellion, the Capitol had no choice but to fight back. We had no choice but to destroy District 12. THAT is how we remember our past. "This is how we safeguard our future." Let the 19th Hunger Games begin!"
Welcome one and all!
Welcome to the future of the Hunger Games! An alternative timeline where the Capitol took back control from the rebels and reinstated the Hunger Games.
I will be accepting 6 players, with backups on a waiting list.
As a player, you don't have to know a lot about the Hunger Games to play in this campaign. You must be able to post, at minimum, once a day (if you need to take days off, you may let me know and I'll bot for your character)
Now that I have the ground rules laid out, let's talk about the fun stuff!
Character Creation:
Your character's are able to be spellcasters! Due to the Capitols experiments on humans, they have unlocked many people's magic. Magic is not considered the same as normally, however. Magic is the result of nanobots in your body and grow in strength as you train in magic. If you are using a magic class, you are required to multiclass with a non-magic class though.
The layout should be similar to as follows:
Name: (any name is fine)
Race: (you can use any race (no homebrew) for their stats and abilities, but they will all physically be viewed as human. any magical abilities will be locked, but can be unlocked through nanobot "magic" and leveling up.)
Class: (magical classes must multiclass w/ a nonmagical class. starting at 1st level, which must be nonmagical)
District: (as there are only 11 districts, I would like you to provide a list of the top 3 districts you would like to be from, in order from most preferred to least preferred)
Background: (homebrew is allowed, but run it by me first)
Backstory: (write it as if you are from your most preferred district. I will choose players based on this, and if there are multiple from one, then we'll either have one player switch their character's gender, or switch districts.
Tell Me About You: (tell be a little bit about yourself. how you like to play, what you're looking for as a player or character)
Is this going to be a pvp style game? Or are we going to be working to over throw the capitol as a team?
Great question!
That is entirely up to the players. You may choose to follow the Capitol's plans and fight each other to the death, or you may band together to escape the Hunger Games. I have both routes available, and anything you may choose in-between!
Backstory: My family, mom, dad, younger brother and myself) were always on the move, trying to be under the radar. One day my younger brother saw a group ganning on on a helpless person and he intervened. When the authorities were near, I shoved him out of the way and into a back alley. I continued to beat on the gang. I was taken away, and here I am.
Me: I play to have an adventure. I enjoy the combat part but have little taste for pvp.
District: (I'd like to learn a bit more about the 11 districts. Can you provide some details or a link?)
Background: Farmer/Outlander

District: District 2, 8, or 11 would be cool. I'm cool wherever tho. (Tbh if you could just put me in whatever one fits best with a rock gnome monk, I'd appreciate it as I know nothing about hunger games)
Background: Acolyte
Backstory: After the other monks of my faith were slaughtered by the Capitol, I had no choice but to join their home district and support their war. I long for the day I can finally avenge my fallen brothers and sisters.
Tell you about me: I really appreciate D&D combat, and it's not as though I *dislike* roleplaying, I'm just really bad at it.
Backstory: when veneer was born his parents gave him away to another family, they threw him out at 10, after that he lived on the streets bouncing around searching for someplace to live, he found that he could sneak up on just about anyone and that he was really good at finding weak points in their armor, whether physical or mental. When he was 16 he found a way to breach the gates of the different towns and found himself wandering between them, never really finding anywhere he belonged. Then a crime lord type figure found him and, seeing his ability, taught him to be a pickpocket, on one assignment he got his first kill, after that his colleagues gave him the name death's giggle, because when he killed that person he giggled almost in glee (it was being uncomfortable). One day he was walking through one of the towns during the hunger games and decided join up, pulling a catniss.
A little about me: combat or role-playing I can do both, I like to min-max but I love acting out my character and their totally edge-lord selves.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
You better watch out you better not cry you better not pout I'm telling you why. Murderers are coming to town.
Class: Fighter (planning to multiclass into sorcerer or warlock later)
District: 1, 2, 4
Background: Noble
Backstory: Daveth was born to an incredibly wealthy family with strong ties to the Capitol. His family is well-known for producing Hunger Games winners, and Daveth is their newest contestant. His family put him through a series of challenges to prepare him, and he proved to be exceptional in challenges where he had to complete obstacle courses or challenges where he had to use his persuasive skills. Despite his incredible skills; he has never been very passionate about the Hunger Games, and he preferred spending his time partying and/or getting drunk with his "friends". His main motivation to win is so he can prove himself to his father, who has never never failed to be disappointed by his son's achievements. Now that he's finally been chosen, Daveth doesn't plan to lose.
About Me: I am a relatively new player who has had a few recent campaigns run out of steam. I generally prefer games that focus on rp, and take place in interesting settings. Daveth is a bit of an experiment, as I usually play more good-hearted and kind characters, so I wanted to play a character who is a bit of a bully (without trying to play the "villain" and ruining the experience for everyone else). I've only read the first book; but I like the idea of a HG campaign, and a more open-ended campaign that focuses on player choice.
