Senushi usually plays a flute but for this instance he grabs hold of horn that once belonged to his crewmate. Lang was his name, and he was just a young lad when he died. Senushi looks to his left and sees the ghostly form of Lang. Senushi whispers "What tale do you have this day"
Lang responds in a way only Sensuhi can hear "Why a tale of beloved friends"
Senush is using his ability Tales from Beyond.
Tale of the Beloved Friends. The target and another creature of its choice it can see within 5 feet of it gains temporary hit points equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die + your Charisma modifier.
The duergar exchange glances. "Can you send these two off?" one asks the other. "Only got one left in me, let's just deal with them while they're alone."
They draw their weapons, deciding to quiet the two travelers while they believe it is just two present.
Party Initiative: 15 Duergar Initiative: 16
The two normal duergar take deep breaths and grow in size, enlarging themselves to match the party's more intimidating size. A third duergar hears the commotion and comes out of the tent.
The one with the lantern, staying behind his larger allies, waves a hand and reaches out psychically. Jar, make a DC 12 INT Save. On a failure, the psychic compulsion causes one of your arms to swing against your will, making an attack on Morkeleb with your reaction (you can still take your turn normally).
The party is up.
The animosity between dwarves and duegar is a tale oft told and it's no different here. With a roar Barnabus charges forward 25ft and places himself between Mork and D2.
The initial assault is unsuccessful. Unlike previous opponents the party has faced, these duergar are wearing armor that protects them from your opening blows. D3 rushes up to help defend his boss and meet the challengers. The trio of normal duergar start swinging their war picks.
D1 Attack vs Jar: 11 for 16 Piercing damage
D2 Attack vs Barnabus: 12 for 5 Piercing damage
D3 Attack vs Morkeleb: 6 for 5 Piercing damage
M1 produces a dagger and stabs at Morkeleb: 14 for 5 Piercing damage and 10 Psychic damage.
M1 then waves a hand at Barnabus, saying, "You listened before." Make a DC 12 INT Save or suffer a momentary loss of motor control, attacking Morkeleb as a reaction (you still take your turn normally).
The Duergar find Barnabus much more prepared for this encounter. As D2 comes into range (Brace) Barnabus reacts withe a counter attack from Fife. (Attack:11) The swipe causes the duegar to adjust their angle.of attack slightly. The adjustment is just enough to cause the strike to miss. Barnabus replies to the suggestion of M1, "Aye! I was expecting that. Not so easy when yer looking them in the eye, eh." (Nat 20 save)
Morkeleb is still trying to carve M1 with his longsword
lol 7 to hit
He shimmers with a faint glow, and falling snow and flying blood splatters near but not on him, revealing a faint magical shield surrounding him. So far the attacks directed towards him have been deflected by the magical shield.
Perhaps due to the low visibility, everyone is more focused on blocking and parrying than attacking, as no blood has yet been drawn on either side. The leader does, however, wince at Senushi’s insults. “Put your backs into it you lazy excuses for duergar!” He yells.
D1 attack vs Jar: 17 for 10 Piercing damage
D2 attack vs Barnabus: 10 for 4 Piercing damage
D3 attack vs Morkeleb: 13 for10 Piercing damage
The leader swings his knife in frustration, targeting Morkeleb again, but looking shakier. 10 for 6 Piercing damage and 13 Psychic damage
Finally, he looks at the shimmering dragonborn, “I struck out twice, but third time’s the charm, aren’t you big guy?” Morkeleb, roll a DC 12 INT Save, or the psychic compulsion causes you to accidentally swing at Barnabus as a reaction (you still take your turn normally).
Morkeleb laughs at the duergar's words, even as his muscles involuntarily jerk and the sword lashes out at Barnabus.
Realizing what happened, Morkeleb growls in anger, holds his sword aloft and mutters, "These foul dark dwarves will not best us. I have light and glory on my side." The sword is infused in a golden glow as he then plunges it into the M1 duergar
Barnanus deflects D2's attack with his Shield. Stepping into the attack, Barnabus uses his Shield to push the enlarged Duergars weapon up giving the dwarf a clear shot at his attackers lower half.
Jar will attack again with his Quarterstaff. He swings his staff but is not able to connect (8 to hit) and follows thru with a kick but it too misses its mark (10 to hit).
Their leader says, "That's a lad. Again!" He swings on Morkeleb with his dagger: 24 for 6 Piercing and 11 Psychic. He follows up by repeating his mind trick. Morkeleb, roll a DC12 INT Save, or the same thing happens and you swing at Barnabus on reaction.

He will move forward to directly in front of M1 and attack with his longsword
sigh it's a nat 1
