Passive perception 13 so auto notice? Or need active roll?
(I just rechecked your 3 passives: 10, 12, 10. That's why Lopain didn't, and noticed the flickering. The other characters made rolls, and went above 13. To speed things up, just do a DEX roll; that gives you a +2, instead of perception with +0, since one of the PCs that noticed it yelled a warning. If you fail, it attaches. If you succeed, you can RP how you want to avoid that attack).
its interesting I reread the original and realized you had given lopes the “sees flickering lights” I must have read past that on first read. I assume lopan isn’t the one making Dex check as you said primrose needed to …

Correct. As your passive was 13, you were able to notice the Dark Mantle, with the phosphorus lighting. Studying the fallen High Elf Wizard's book, she's the main one to do the check.
I'll be bringing in the rest of the "boss encounter enemies," shortly...
And if Richie's warning counts as a help action, here's the other roll
15
(Yes, we'll count that as a Help, since there was the warning, from the passing the perception check, but at a cost).
Due to Richie's warning, Primrose is able to avoid the Dark Mantle. However, his loud warning does not go unnoticed. In a few moments, in addition to the Dark Mantle, they find themselves facing an Ancient Shadow, a Chitine, and behind them, a Fist of Bane, escorting a Tiefling, Paladin (Oath Breaker; this is from the custom characters I set for the campaign).
The Tiefling looks at the party, and addresses his lieutenant, a Deep Gnome: "Vanessa Darkheart. It appears we have amateurs to contend with, wouldn't you say? One of them so badly lacks discipline, that he would risk jeopardizing their entire mission, for the sake of one. Such naivete, for an adventurer."
Vanessa: "Indeed, Captain Thorne Blackheart. In the order of Bane, such nonsense would have gotten them killed, if not by an enemy, then by their superiors, for risking operation integrity. Since they lack a superior, we shall gladly rectify the matter."
Thorne Blackheart: To give you all a chance, you can start to run and hide amongst the crystal formations, for a limited amount of cover. You have a very short amount of time...do you know what the Fallen Star is? It's actually an egg! But not just any egg. It's the product of a dragon and a Coutal! It's one of the first Quetzadrakes! Cults for Tiamat and Sul Khatesh are on their way. We got here, first, however, with our own rather special backer. What chance do you fools think you have, to combat them, let alone us?"
This encounter is taking place at around 4 & 6--click the Oath Breaker Link--for the battle. I'll try to get a better map generator for future battles. There are some columns, and rock barriers for half cover--Offer +2 to AC and Dexterity saving throws--for both parties. Remember, the walls are all ice, and all squares that have black in or touching them, can be slick, risking the possibility of being knocked prone. The chest at either 4 or 6 is a mimic. However, the chests are also in a rock formation, that can serve as a barrier, to provide 3/4 cover, offering +5 to AC and Dexterity saving throws.
Players, roll on your highest stat between Perception, History, Nature, or Arcana...if you plan to get to the rock formation for 3/4 cover. Must pass DC 15. If you're planning to get behind a column for only 1/2 cover, then no check is needed.
(Various. The black spots near 2 and 8 are a series of rock formations, with random ledges, 3-5 feet in height, spanning about 50 feet...which are blocked by the enemies. The rest of the areas are areas that can be 10 - 30 feet. All places to hide, other than around the 2 chests, can provide 1/2 cover to 1, maybe 2 beings, with some being close enough to each other for multiple people to hide close by. If anyone has "Common Sign Language" as a known language, that can help. Or to use the telepathy to help coordinate the battle.)
(Yup. Remember, these caverns are associated with a mountain range, which stretches for miles. This isn't a clear and open spot. There's lot of columns, and various rock formations. There's 90-metre/295ft, 676km/420mi, 2,212m/7,257 caves, so in D&D, that's not too far fetched.)
Looks like Primrose makes it to the 3/4 cover. She casts Blade ward when she gets there.
I can't read the numbers on the map
(OOC 4 is on the left side, looking at it from your screen. 6 is the right side. With the 20 to Arcana, you're able to determine that the chest is in fact a chest, and not a mimic...that means that after the fight, to remember that 6 is the mimic. Primrose, Richie, and Cyrus have all made their way to the rocky outcrop, for 3/4 cover)
(OOC, had to go through your sheet. I see the Winged Boots. The Dark Mantle has a flight of 30, while the Chitine has a climb of 30. Command has a 60 ft range from the Oath Breaker. The Fist has a long bow with 150 ft, and has a feature grants advantage on all ability checks and saving throws made during combat. Flying is good, but that can also make you a prime target, to be perceived as one of the bigger threats)
Thorne Blackheart (to Lopan): Halt! DC 14. (Note, this does NOT impose advantage on follow up attacks against a failed WIS saving throw).
Fist of Bane: Longbow (to Lopan) - Hit: 4. If hit, Damage: 7.
Chitine has climbed a column, and throw 2 daggers at Lopan (has disadvantage)...Hit D1: 3. Hit D2: 6. Damage D1 4. Damage D2 6.
Dark Mantle already took it's action to try to attack Primrose.
Ancient Shadow will use Shadow Stealth in the dim light, to Hide as a bonus action, gains advantage on attack rolls against targets that can't see it. It will use it to get closer to those in 3/4 cover, to try and have advantage on the attack. Darkvision, in the Dim Light, with a Perception check may spot it...or spells like See Invisibility or Farie Fire may also work.
Richie has already used Help, for his action in this round.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC, Looks like good AC, and bad rolls for the monsters. Tentatively, to speed things up, so the game doesn't get hung up, when a player doesn't post for a few days, or drops suddenly, and for people to wait for a player to make their post, is that everyone makes their post, and collectively, we see the results of each round.)
Cyrus moves his Echo, to attack the Dark Mantle. Hit: 10. Damage 8
The mantle is able to slip past the Echo's attack.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perception 20
(Primrose wants to know where they are and which are within 10 ft radius of each other. Also, would Detect Magic or Detect Thoughts be useful to find them? Since she's a Necromancer she should know, or tell with Arcana, what could find the Shadow. And Detect Magic has a casting time of "1 action + 10 min" and a duration of "concentration up to 10 minutes" Does this reflect the 10 min duration where you cast & concentrate or it doesn't start working for 10 min?)
The +10 min is if you ritually cast it. Which generally isn’t possible in combat as everyone else would go about 60 additional times before you finished
duration generally means starting when you’ve finished casting…
(I just rechecked your 3 passives: 10, 12, 10. That's why Lopain didn't, and noticed the flickering. The other characters made rolls, and went above 13. Which you could do screen shots on this
lopans passives are 13-10-11

Please note. Had not actually flown yet. Was simply asking about possibility of flying.
(also completely ok they all focused on me anyway)
assume they all ignored the elf warrior?
so looks like I just need a dc14 wis save saved (19 in log)
How are we working initiative? Asking because I haven’t done anything since the yelling watch out… just making sure I haven’t missed anything
