Kellen
Looking Gerrard up and down with a look of distaste on his face, Kellen shakes his head. I tried to hurry you along. You insisted...hopefully it hasn't become permanent yet.
Kellen examines Gerrard on the way up to figure out if he's got some idea that might slow down the disease progression a bit more:
Gerrard finds the hot open air uncomfortably dry and harsh, the sunshine intolerable. His extremities tingle, and he is running a fever. (He also finds he can’t regain hit points unless he is fully submerged underwater, and that he is currently vulnerable to radiant damage.) But at least he can still breathe the thin air.
Kellen knows to keep Gerrard wrapped in wet cloth, and to submerge him wherever possible. He also knows that only a high-level cleric, or perhaps a druid, can cure him, and that there are none to be found in the Styes.
Captain Edrik greets you, studying Gerrard carefully. "What'd you find? And what's our next bearing?"
Kellen steers Gerrard toward the side of the ship, easiest place he can find to dunk him on occasion. Festering undead, a giant gods-damned hole, and a now collapsed wreck. Oh, and a small fortune that you'll have a share in if you get us to Seaton faster than this ship's capable of.

"Seaton or somewhere closer that has healer of great power" Kei echoes. "Speaking of, other than the obvious" he looks squarely at Gerrard; "is anyone in need of healing?"
As the crew get the ship in order, Kei finds a place out of the way to sit and think about their next move. That rift must be closed, but how?
"Already taken care of. Don't worry about that," grunts Bonesy, the rail-thin first mate.
"The weather looks good. Seas good," adds Edrik, nodding to a burly sailor at the helm. "We'll have you in Seaton in 36 hours, barring unforeseen circumstances. Are we safe from below?"
Kellen gazes over the side of the ship into the depths. For now...and with a little luck, for good. So don't count on it. 36 hours is the best we got? He looks over at Gerrard and shakes his head again. It'll have to be quick enough, I suppose. Just keep fighting it, and quit pressing your luck. Sit right there where you can stay wet.

Nodding, Gerrard curls up further into his fetal position ball of misery and tries not to move much, trusting his friends to do right by him and trying to think about those who hopefully will never be corrupted by corrupted aboleths or necrotic madness undead given their efforts over the past few days.

Unless you have further business in this cursed spot, the Gloom’s Wake sets off for Seaton, sailing at an impressive clip out of the broad bay and into the open sea. The weather is beautiful, the sun is shining, the weather rather hot.
The day progresses uneventfully. The sun sets. It has been a long time since any of you have seen a sunset.
With little to do on board but rest, everyone in the party may receive the benefits of a Long Rest.
ExceptGerrard. His face and back are marred with fat blue boils. His skin dries quickly, and he must be wrapped in wet blankets at all times. He shies away from the sunshine. He does not regain any hitpoints, and will not, without slowing down the ship significantly.
His fever, however, has subsided somewhat. Gerrard: make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw.

Kellen
Kellen takes a nice long nap, recovering from the cold, underwater battle. He has a few familiar premonitory flashes while dreaming, knowing that he won't really remember until they actually happen. (portent rolls: 1118)
Stepping out into the sun on the deck, Kellen stretches and basks for moment, enjoying the warmth. Then he sees Gerrard. Ahh, gods be-...hold on, there, let's have a look at you. He sees the miserable man huddled up, and wets some more blankets. Here...say, let me tell you of the time I had to port in Waterdeep...with a smuggler's hold full of Waterdhavian art. He proceeds to spend the rest of the trip regaling Gerrard in various tales of past adventures, marks, narrow escapes, and fights-to-the-death. Some of them are even true.
(Keeping that bardic inspiration going, with momentary rests to refill uses as necessary)

Without realising the depth of his exhaustion Kei falls asleep quite quickly as he contemplates the future. He wakes with a start as one particularly effervescent spray crosses the gunwales. He looks around at the clear skies. "This is how the Styes should be" he remarks as he squints in the setting sun. It is then he sees Gerrards evolving condition. "Not looking good" he says as he approaches the nobleman. He reaches upto his neck and unclasps his necklace and hands it to Gerrard. "Take this. It's saved me a number of times".
(I'm going to rule that Kellen's bardic inspiration came a little late for that roll. But Gerrard will soon have a new roll he can use it on!)
You awaken as the sun is setting. Gerrard is not doing well. Continuing to treat him with towels and saltwater, you spend the night resting, waiting, and caring for your friend. The cheerful-if-eccentric cook, "Farrow", is quite good at his job, bringing you all manner of tasty treats. The ship sails on through the dark. The seas and the weather remain calm.
You awaken again to a hazy sunrise. Land is visible only as a distant sliver to the west, but it feels familiar to Gerrard. They are nearing Seaton.
As you take yet another Long Rest, Gerrard may make a fresh Constitution saving throw against his ills. (Gerrard is still unable to recover any lost hit points until they are able to stop and submerge him, however.)
The morning progresses well. The weather is beautiful, the wind fair, the seas calm. The ship is making good time, and the crew expects to make Seaton by sundown. You pass a few fishing vessels that look like they might have a homeport of Seaton or even Saltmarsh. Gerrard is feeling better; his stomach tightens at the complicated homecoming his mother or brother may give him, but are bouyed by thoughts of Esmerelda, even as he then recalls how she was disfigured by an attack at sea shortly before his last visit and would not see him.
Then, shouts of alarm from the lookout are followed by a scramble of crew. Looking to the south, you see an odd double horizon, as if your eyes are having trouble focusing. Then you realize what you are looking at – a wall of water, dozens of feet high at least, roaring toward you. It is miles long – you cannot see just how far it extends east and west. You have only seconds – perhaps as much as a minute – to prepare for its impact.
Standing to his feet, Gerrard says, “I have a magic item that can produce wind, Captain, if you would like me to direct it at the sails.” He stands ready to take orders and otherwise stays out of the way.
