Paying for his own simple meal, Kerric stands up and looks around the tavern, saying to Xalkas and Ebele, "Do you think anyone else here would be willing to risk their lives to aid the people of Red Larch? I would prefer to have more than the three of us if we run into a large group of bandits."

“Um ... I’m not sure.” Xalkas then stands up on his bar stool and then onto the bar and says in as loud a voice as he can muster “Anyone here want to possibly risk their life to keep the town safe from bandits?” Looking expectantly around the room
Ebele’s head would turn towards the excitable voice. The burst of energy was enough to crack a grin on the half-elf’s otherwise neutral face. She’d reach for the wineskin on her hip and hold it up with a little shake, listening for the swishing of the liquid. “I can spare a taste for a genuine soul.” Her head would nod. The half-elf would pour 1/4 of her personal brew with a surprising amount of precision into Xalkas’ presented waterskin. She wouldn’t spill a drop.
Ebele will gesture with her wineskin, “Cheers, new friend.” She’ll tilt the skin to her lips and take a swig. The monk will enjoy the flavours dancing on her tongue as she’d listen to the elf continue the conversation without skipping a beat. As the pair would square up business with the barkeep and discuss two other curious patrons in the establishment, Ebele will cock her head to one side to listen for these two others mentioned, remembering the Teechal tiefling from the barkeep.
The monk will stare unwavering at Kerrick. He had not acknowledged nor commented one way or the other in response to the skills he asked her to present him. Her chin will gently tilt up as if sizing up the elf with her senses before turning her head to scan the room herself to see if anyone would react to Xalkas’ request.
Noticing Ebele's steady "gaze" at him, Kerric adds, "Knowing how to use a healer's kit and brew cider are important skills, but might serve just as well in town. Tell me you can hold your own in a fight with bandits given your apparent lack of sight, and I will gladly welcome you to our cause."

Xalkas removes the cap from his water skin and swirls the contents and gives it a quick sniff. Satisfied with the flavorful aroma of the beverage takes a small swig, swishing it for a moment savoring the flavor. Then quickly downs the rest of what Ebele offered. “You weren’t mistaken! This is quite excellent!”
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker stands up, leaving Rehgys to further examine the contract and hopefully sign it, and approaches Xalkas. "Hello there. My name is T'chal'fronack'zcinicker. I believe we may be able to come to terms. I am not particularly interested in bandits, but I would like to escort you. In your search for bandits you will probably cover a lot of ground. I have maps of this region that I am tasked with updating. That means that I already have a good sense of what's around, which could help you in your exploration, while it will simultaneously assist me ensure each region of the maps are up to date." His large leathery bat wings crinkle as they flex slightly while all scrunched up and folded. "You can benefit by my presence in a few other ways. I can ensure you receive fair terms when negotiating with the local constabulary. I am a diligent and detailed logistics manager which means you'll always be well supplied and never need to manage those pesky details that so many people prefer to avoid managing, to their peril." He looks around at the three people at the bar, and pulls out three pre-written contracts, all titled 'Travelling Associate Contract'. "This is a standard contract that lays out the agreement between all travelling associates. It's all standard fair. Oh, and miss, I'd be happy to read this contract out to you of course and assist you in signing your copies."

Rehgys wants to humour the tiefling and starts reading the contract. As soon as T leaves though, Rehgys starts to amend the contract in, to their mind at least, amusing ways. For one, Rehgys spends some time to "redefine" T's name in a bunch of different ways that will likely cause the tiefling a nervous shock. At the suggestion of free drink for rumours however, they get very distracted and only manage to work through the contract with some difficulty. At the latest when the curious monk mentions berry cider, all hope is lost, and Rehgys leaps up from their chair in excitement, with the contract flying somewhere in the commotion.
The satyr quickly gallops up to the monk, and with genuine excitement, they say: "What an exquisite idea! I simply must taste some of that berry cider that is filling my nose with such a delicious flavour! And from such a mysterious companion nonetheless! I overheard you wanting to go look for trouble? Now, I just want to come along to see that. It's not everyday you see a monk beat up local bandits, even less when they themselves aren't able to see at all!"
Rehgys is nearly bubbling over with excitement, and when Kerric asks who else is willing to join in their quest, Rehgys quickly grabs the stool that has been placed further away from the bar by Xalkas' magic, awkwardly clambers onto it with their hoofs, and pulling out a pan flute starts to burst out in song:
In a backwoods town a group of strangers met, Became friends, And now all the local bandits fret. The monk, blind but seeing with her ears instead, The elven fighter, eager and nobly clad, A tiefling, always looking to get you in his debt, And a gnome wizard, small in silhouette. Add to that a satyr you'll never forget.

T'chal'fornack'zcinicker smiles charmingly at the Satyr. This is why he’s here, he can tell. The elf, the satyr, the evil. This is the perfect situation for honing his skills. The Satyr wished to enjoy the moment. The elf claimed his bonds to his tribe prevented him from signing any contracts. And likely this woman with the blindfold will claim some sort of dribble about not being able to read contracts. He physically cracked his knuckles. Time to get to work.
“Of course fine sir. You are quite right. Sloppy.” His uncles tips about putting easily found errors in order to distract and misdirect from the more vicious buried terms had been invaluable and it had clearly worked here. “I’ll carefully adjust these over the next few days. If we can agree that we’ll both act in good faith to complete a signed contract within 3 days hence I believe we can both be satisfied. How does this sound to you?”
“As to you good sir. Oh, I do not seek to bind you or your clan into any service agreement. This is simply an agreement that defines the boundaries of our own personal traveling arrangement. It benefits you to agree as it binds us to ensure your next of kin are notified of any incidents. Also, most of these terms are simply unspoken agreements a valiant warrior such as yourself would extend to companions regardless, such as an agreement to equal shares of any treasure from fallen foes and an agreement to share information freely regarding our cooperative journey and shared tasks. It is simply the same as a verbal agreement to travel together but with much clearer terms.”

Ebele’s ears would twitch as she’d hear the flex of leathery wings approach. Sure enough they were accompanied by threads of intricately weaved words by the tiefling. Though, her attention would be stolen by the rhythmic patter of the famed satyr coming their way. The monk also enjoyed the energy he brought with him, and his little song even more so. It was quite literally music to her ears.
Sure enough, as always, if she waited silently, and long enough, others would talk themselves out and forget about her presence. The half-elf would smirk and follow the footsteps out of the tavern. While walking down the street, Ebele will take her wineskin and reach it out toward the sound of their hoofs, “I believe you fancied a taste.” She’d finally break her silence along the road, offering her cider to Rehgys.

Saying you wish to ‘escort us’ implies that you would be providing protection of sorts though you already stated you have little interest in fighting bandits.”
He wasn’t intentionally trying to annoy or anger the tiefling, he just couldn’t help pointing out this juxtaposition. Let us go see the Constable so that we may know which direction to head first”
Xalkas lets out a small chuckle hearing the Satyr’s enthusiasm for berry cider seems to match his own and claps along during the song finding it quite enjoyable.
At Rehgys lecturing of T'chal'fronack'zcinicker, Xalkas nods along in agreement. ‘I’ve thought those same things myself, though I would prefer to use the parchment for study. Not chronicling adventures.’
As the odd troupe makes its way out of the tavern, the excitable Satyr leading followed by an elf, tiefling, and a blind half-elven monk.
