the group follows the directions from Mal and comes upon Drouth’s Fine Poultry next door to that stand four identical single-story stone buildings, running back from the street in a line. The front building has a painted sign of a ham being carved by a cleaver, accompanied by no words
T'chal'fronack'zcinicker shrugs at the comments about terms, unbothered but seemingly highly engaged in the discussion as they walk, "Well, good gnome, I think you've proven my point. Now that we all can agree on what 'escort' means, we can properly codify it in a contract term. After all, a contract is only just that, a recorded final version representing an understanding between two parties. Perhaps we can work together on a contract that everyone can agree on. That said, I can see you all have little interest in a more formal arrangement for the time being and will relent. We have only just met after all. That said, has anyone considered what sort of arrangement we will be seeking from the constable? Do we seek pay in coin, in local services at the town, or are you each in it simply for the glory? I do happen to have a standard services contract template for us to use. Have you given any thought to potential expenses we may incur?"
As he prattles on, T'chal'fronack'zcinicker carries his large stuffed bag, the rapier at his side clinking against his belt. He glances around the town looking at the sites as they go, and as he continues to express the values of planning ahead. "Army's live and die by their ability to plan successful logistics. I suspect is it no less important for brave souls such as yourselves."

Rehgys lets Xalkas take over the discussion with the legal-minded tiefling, instead gladly accepting the berry cider from the blind monk.
"Ahh, truly delicious this. It brings back memories of war summer days in Kalimshan, and the richness of the Chultan spices. YOu brew this yourself? Truly a master of your craft!" Then, hastily, they add: "By the way, the name's Rehgys. I sort of missed that part in my debut to the group before... Anyways, very nice to make your acquaintance. I overheard you saying your name was Ebele, is that correct?"
While having this conversation, Rehgys is busy stashing their pan flute in the sack slung around their shoulder. They will be the second to enter the butcher's.

“Or ... instead of codifying it in a contract T'chal'fronack'zcinicker, we could simply consider it a verbal agreement. I see no reason for everything to be so formal.” Xalkas very much enjoyed pronouncing the tiefling’s name making sure to enunciate each syllable of the name distinctly. Moving on to the next topic Xalkas continues, “I have a score to settle you might say. I am simply looking to be pointed in the right direction of the bandits. And of course it never hurts to be traveling with others that know how to handle a weapon or two.” At this Xalkas gestures towards T'chal'fronack'zcinicker’s rapier. “As far as expense are concerned, I figure for the time being we can each manage our own and divide any ‘spoils of combat’ equally amongst the five of us. That seems the most sensible to me. Though I suppose since you seem so keen about it. Perhaps you can manage group expenses in the future should it come to that.”
Xalkas would wait for everyone else to enter the building and then enter.
You enter the butcher shop and see to people behind a large cutting board trimming a side of beef. the younger male is holding a leg while the woman is hacking it off, she looks up and inquires "can i help you"
upon hearing that you seek the constable she yells Harburk Constable business and goes back to cutting the beef
you hear footsteps coming up some stairs and a fairly large bearded man enters wiping his hands on a towel, he looks the five of you over and says in a deep voice
"Good sir constable, you may help by offering us some of that delicious looking ham over there. Now, WE might be able to help you in turn. All of us have come to Red Larch from different directions, and before today, we didn't know eachother, yet everyone of us has heard tales of evil afoot- be it watchers in the quarry, bandits in the woods, or monsters in the hills. Now, I for my part enjoy frolicking in the forest and the hills far too much to just abandon them to these dark forces, and most my companions here seem to fully agree. We are therefore determined to do something about this situation. Now, to make sure that this was all proper, we wanted to see what the community is doing, and how best to lend our aid to your efforts." Rehgys finishes their introduction with a beaming smile, directed first at Constable Harburk, and then at the butcher lady. Rehgys can almost feel the scorn from Kerric, who had wanted to instigate this whole expedition and had entered the building first, and so Rehgys quickly makes way for the elven warrior, still smiling about the fact that they were able to make the first impression.

"Thank you for the information, Constable, and the offer of the bounty. Can you offer any information about the size, deployment, and tactics of the bandits? What proof would you accept, so we know what to recover from our foes?" he asks Harburk.
