hello! I am a new DM and not so old player in general. So its my first time DMing a party of 1)arrakocroka monk, 2)dragonborn monk and 3)a human wizard i was hoping for some guidance on how to formulate my story, side quests , encounters etc i was also hoping to get some times on how to be a good DM in general.
If this is your first time DMing, start with something small and simple. You can skim through the "Lost Mine of Phandelver" module as it is a starter module and has a lot of DM advice in it.
I also highly recommend something like Matt Colville's Delian Tomb (he has a very good DM series on youtube).
Start with your characters, is there anything interesting in their backstory or background you can use as an initial starting point?

"An' things ha' come to a pretty pass, ye ken, if people are going to leave stuff like that aroound where innocent people could accidentally smash the door doon and lever the bars aside and take the big chain off'f the cupboard and pick the lock and drink it!"
I'd suggest starting small then, maybe a local issue like a town that is suffering from raids from monsters that have recently taken up residence nearby. You can never go wrong with a small goblin tribe with maybe a trained Blood Hawk to keep your Arakocroka player busy for a bit. Or a Cultist group that has summoned up a Dretch or an Imp or something.
After that, maybe slip a map or other clue in to a dungeon that they can explore, probably with some undead monsters. As for treasure, don't be afraid to lean on the Trinket table in the PHB. That stuff is fun and can lead to all manner of interesting interactions later down the line.

Are you interested in using published adventures or creating some sort of homebrew adventure that works with our players' party composition?
currently , i am keen in making my own adventure. but i am ready for taking some ideas from already published adventures
