How many hexes can a party of 4 travel on a continental scale?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat." -Sun Tzu
The size of the party doesn't really matter. Chapter 8 of the Player's Handbook covers travel pace among other things. A normal pace is 3 miles/hour, and (according to the DMG) continent scale is 60 miles/hex. So it would take the party 20 hours of consecutive travel to go 60 miles. Assuming the party only travels 8 hours per day, it'll take them 2.5 days to go 1 hex on contintent scale.
So to sum up:
Continent Scale = 60miles/hex
Normal Travel Pace = 3 miles/hour
Total Travel Time = 20 hours
Assuming the party doesn't do a forced march and only goes 8 hours per day, 2.5 days to go the full 60 miles.
If you'd like, you can also consider whether there's any obstacles or difficult terrain. Difficult terrain doubles travel time for as long as the party is in the terrain. If the party wants to go faster, they could go at a fast pace (4 miles per hour).
I suggest taking a look at the travel rules in Chapter 8 of the PHB. There's some fun and underused mechanics there that could easily make long-distance journeys interesting and fun.

I generally have not worried about it. I just say it is X number of days travel to this or that location.
My world map is scaled in miles.
Hiking at a decent pace is about 2 mph
Brisk pace 4 mph but your not going to last all day
If on horseback 4 mph at a regular horse walk.
