I'm a DM that runs all my games online, they are all play by post/chat games and I use Discord, DnDBeyond and Roll20 to run them. I also have a lot of stuff on google docs and use a couple other free and not free online services to do thing like create maps, random generators, etc. In short I've been finding it a bit of a pain keeping track of all my stuff and jumping through the million tabs I usually have open trying to find stuff. I'm also a web developer, and it occurred to me I should quite being stupid and build myself a 'DM's Portal' that can act as a central location from which I can find all my crap. If your in the same situation I would like to hear from you what things you would add to a 'DMs' portal if you were making one.
I'm building the portal off WordPress and so far I've written a Discord Plugin that lets me send and receive messages from all my channels directly from the portal. I've also written a 'Link Library' plugin that lets me quickly save links to webpages and displays them in a table with clickable links, probably tweak that so I can categories them and maybe search it. I'm planning on writing a DMs Screen plugin and maybe a character sheet plugin but since I use DnDBeyond not sure I'll bother. Anyhow, if you have any idea on what else might be useful would like to here from you.
I've heard WorldAnvil is great for managing campaigns, but building your own website sounds cool. In my opinion, you should definitely keep track of your players and their basic stats. Have more than one note-taking place - one could be for the general campaign, and the other could be for individual sessions. You could have some sort of storage system for files, and if you need external links put them all on one page. Though I run my games in person, I sometimes have the same "million-tab problem". I usually make a Google Doc that contains the whole plot outline as well as images and maps for quick reference. Another good thing to add would be things you might find on a regular DM Screen, such as a random encounter table or list of NPC names. You can find videos online which list the best digital DM sources.
Personally, I think you should add whatever is the most useful, but keep in mind not to "overpopulate" the website - keep it easy to manage and use.
