Was wondering how you would go about getting a Artists impression of Suspect like something for a Wanted Poster What would you have them roll on and how would you interpret a level of success to being an actual likeness?
My players have two witnesses that can give them a description, so I'm thinking there is an investigative part and then a artistic part?

Does anyone have an illusion spell that they can control the image with? Sit down with a witness and keep fine-tuning the illusion until you get close to the perfect copy.

unfortunately none of the PC's have such a spell, I certainly would give them full points so to speak if they came up with the idea themselves, but so far it's at drawing a picture from a witnesses description.

I’d have the players asking questions about why they look like make an insight check, to reflect if they are asking the right questions. I’d have the person drawing make a dex check, to see if they can make their hand do what they are being told. And if they have an appropriate tool proficiency, I don’t know what that would be, or something in their background or the way they’ve been role playing the character (they often sketch when they are bored or in downtime) they could add proficiency bonus. Or even a straight performance check, as I generally use that for artistic endeavors.

Yeah Insight good one I was thinking Investigation for the getting good info part and weighting it about 50% think I'll let players choose Insight or Investigation depending on their PC's strengths. and Dex for the Artistic... Iwas toying with that to, tool proficiency a good consideration think you can have artist tools.
I'm also puzzling about what reasonable... Medium? DC 15 with 50% from an Investigation/Insight and 50% from the drawing DEX roll?

I’d been thinking about suggesting the insight (or whichever for the description) sets a cap for the drawing check. They can only draw as well as it’s described, after all. But that might end up too tough. I’d hate for a crappy insight and a nat 20 drawing meaning they get a stick figure or something.
How hard do you want it to be? If it’s plot critical, I might lower the DCs or even just let them do it, since the dice will betray you. If it’s just a good idea, then I guess it comes down to balancing letting them pull off a good idea against it short-circuiting any plot points there may be.

Oh it's not critical at all... is a in between session interaction so I can indulge a little, I mean if it was a situation pop in the middle of a session I'd probably just handle it quickly with a Investigation the situation just lent itself to wonder how one could do it... As for consequence apart from lynching some poor person off the street if they got it hideously wrong... they could actually find out it is none other then Anastrasya von Zarovich one of Strahd's Brides from CoS
Mmm... me thinks AI art is stuck on 20 DEX check
Between them they managed a DC 15 so I think if as I suspect they will go searching Burgomaster Baron Vargas Vallakovich's Library they'll no doubt come across a likeness of Anastrasya von Zarovich in some chronical of Strahd von Zarovich marriage to her.
edit :- Pondering on it after the fact I think I would probably adjust the weighting of the two steps maybe as far as 75%-25% ie the questioning and drawing respectively as pooh input begets pooh output.
