As I prepare for my own Homebrew Campaign, I’ll be filling up the time between with a published adventure, which I imagine will be Curse of Strahd, for both its undeniable quality and the support for it. *Note that I have not had a good backup adventure suggested, covering (at a minimum) levels 1 through 10+*. So what I’m curious is whether or not there’s still Players that would be down to play, particularly if it was professionally handled (not as a paid game but of solid quality).
Note: House of Lament from Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft substituted for Death House, plus two new areas to explore with some bonus magical items (nothing overpowered). Whole sandbox will be larger by 10 times at least (travel times between locations were a joke).
Any thoughts? Also, if you have a newer adventure you’d suggest of a quality that hopefully matches Strahd, I’d happily take it as a suggestion.
Curse of Strahd is fine if the players don't mind the horror elements (eating children, mental health, child torture, addictive drugs, thinly veiled references to real life ethnic groups, sexual assault, mind control etc - some of them could be triggering depending on the people playing) and I would say that there are folks who would play it. a
Another option might include Tomb of Annihilation, the jungle hex crawl portion needs a bit more than just the random encounters. However, since most of the other quests are actually located around the outside of the continent of Chult while the ultimate destination is more or less in the middle, the game usually only uses a fraction of the bits from around the outside. There are some good Guild Adept modules on DMsGuild that can be used to supplement jungle content like "Return of the Lizard King" and the Hidden Shrine of Tamaochan from Tales of the Yawning Portal also fits well in ToA.
