If the orcs have been alerted, the orcs in areas 4 and 4a *fire arrows* until the characters either retreat or succeed in bypassing the door.
Orcs are statted with javelins, which is beneficial with the thrown property allowing the use of strength. Bows do not have that luxury. Would you say it's a fair trade to use longbows to up the damage on a hit (vs javelin/shortbow) to counter the use of dex? Or do I just lob javelins?
This will be against a party of 7 pcs ranging from levels 3-5. (I know that's a LOT of pcs for a 4 player module, but reasons and "here for a good time"). I feel the amount of pcs vs the lower to hit and higher damage balance should be ok. What are your thoughts?
Javelin +5 d6+3 avg 6 min 4 max 9
Shortbow +3 d6+1 avg 4 min 2 max 7
Longbow +3 d8+1 avg 5 min 2 max 9
I think that's right. It's late lol
Ignore me. As I read on later in the module
The orcs are armed with longbows instead of javelins: +3 to hit (range 150/600 ft.); 5 (1d8 + 1) piercing damage on a hit.
Looking for opinions.

I'm going to bed hahaha goodnight!
Call me Knives.
Don't you love it when a module buries information. But what I would done is to say bows, but do javelin damage.
