I’m somewhat of a new DM currently running my first campaign. I’ve run a few one shots and something that matters to me a lot in running my sessions is the sound design and soundscape of the sessions. Currently, this is what I’m doing; I have my laptop next to my DM screen connected to a speaker at the center of the table (eventually I wanna design my own room with surround sound and all that stuff but alas).
I run two YouTube tabs at the same time, one playing ambient noise (forests, wind noises, rain, storm, etc.), and the other playing music (general fantasy background music, combat music, etc.). I’ve looked up and found so many different options that people use like Syrinscape, Pocket Bard, or Tabletop RPG Audio.
The bottom line of something I’m looking for is something where I can upload my OWN music and my OWN background tracks to a software program that allows me to loop and fade in and out to different tracks while playing ambient and music tracks simultaneously.
Truthfully I just want to know what everybody else is using and see if there’s a consistent answer that seems to work for the majority. Some personal background here: I am an audio engineer with 10 years experience working in both the studio setting and live sound setting so no need to water anything down in your designs or setups!
